even when he was with Houston. http://espn.go.com/page2/s/number/010502.html After he signed with Houston and played in all 50 games during the shortened 1998-99 season, Pippen's Rockets were eliminated by the Lakers in four games in the first round of the playoffs. In that series, Pippen took the most shots on his team (70) but made less than one of every three. Since the best-of-5 first round was established in the 1984 playoffs, no one has ever taken as many shots, shot for such a low percentage, and failed even to reach a decisive Game 5.
Isn't it funny how the person who took the most shots on the team in the playoffs complained about not being involved in the offense, and that when the system was changed to suit Scottie, the Rox went from being contenders to being eliminated? ------------------ "Of course, thats just my opinion, I could be wrong" -- Dennis Miller
From a purely "Screw Pippen" point of view, wouldn't it be great to see Jordan come back & lead the Wizards to the Championship without Pippen? However, he'd be playing the Rockets in the Championship imao & I wouldn't be able to root for him. ------------------
Just to tick everyone off... Jordan didn't carry Pippen in their championships. I don't believe Jordan would have won 6 if he didn't have Pippen. Probably 2, just like Hakeem. Pippen has always been a whiner, but he hasn't always been a crappy player. All those playoff games and that back surgery destroyed him. Pippen, during his prime, was an awesome player.
...but he sucks now and is going to take the Trailblazers down with him 'cause there ain't no way they can manuever under the most overinflated contract in the NBA.
Doc- In his prime Pip was a decent player playing along side the best ever. Pip never was a great shooter, spent alot of enrgy on defense (but keep in mind the Bulls did a great job of playing team defense), and mostly he knew when the game was on the line to get the ball to MJ. I never understood how people thought he was the 2nd best player in the league during that time. IMO he is closer to an Eddie Jones (scores 15-16 ppg, played D, etc) then comparing him to any great players.
4chuckie is exactly right. Even in his prime, Pippen relied solely on Mike to get him into his game. There is no other player on the Greatest 50 of All Time who couldn't get his own shot. Scottie Pippen could NEVER get his own shot. We should have listened to all the Chicago fans who told us what a loser this guy was. Hell, this was a guy who helped them win 6 titles and even they were warning against him!! That's pretty telling. ------------------
It would be even funnier if Jordan won a championship in Washington and had Charles and his "sorry fat butt" on the team with him. That would be so classic. The only thing better would be for the Rockets to win a championship while Quitten watched. ------------------ See the three, be the three.
