I'm doing a paper for my Society and Popular Music course. I am required to select a particular style of music and basically write a 15 page paper about all aspects of it. I have chosen hip-hop and I need to get eyewitness experiences from visitors of a particular "scene". For my scene I have chosen Live Sports Cafe (Saturday nights). So, if any of you have been to Live Sports Cafe on Saturday nights in the past (when T-Grey is DJ'ing), it would be greatly appreciated if you could reply here with your thoughts on the following things: - Setting (any and everything about the actual location) - Who you go with (is it for the music or something else?) - Why you go there instead of other places? - What are the pros and cons of Live? - Do you dance to the music? - Do you even like the music? (if so, what songs are favorites) - What is the crowd generally like when you're there? (age/race/gender/style) - Anything else you care to share with me Please be as descriptive and elaborate as you possibly can. Thank you very much in advance for your help. By the way, I know Stack24 works there and I have already contacted him...just in case anyone was going to suggest it.
Ok...so, is anyone actually going to help me? I'm not asking people to write my paper for me. This is a section of the paper that I actually have to get responses for.
Pay a hot chick to ask for you for 2 bucks per person. Meanwhile, host a party at your place to recoup and make a profit on your costs. I'd agree to a salary cap and some witness verification beforehand, or you might end up seeing her at the party....
So, my fellow Rocket fans are going to leave me high and dry on this one with nothing but comical remarks huh? I figured this was a place where I might actually get some mature answers. I'd certainly appreciate it if at least a few people could actually take this seriously...
That's what I was thinking. What the hell kind of class is that? Edit: I'd help you if I could. I've never been to Live.
I'm guessing most Sociology programs have similar classes. At SWT, we had this class and one for sports as well. For some reason, I didn't take either.
No way. Best class ever was Magic, Ritual, and Religion at TUFKASWT taught by some hippie who was most definitely high every class. It was fun learning about which movies were all about drugs, watching crazy serpent handling evangelicals in West Virginia and discussing baseball players' wacky superstitions.
Why an institution of high learning is offering a "Society and Popular Music" class is beyond me. I can't believe somebody would actually pay money to sit through that class, either. Waste of time imo.
Usually on those type papers, if I didnt know something-- I would just make it up. I suggest you do the same.
Is Sociology of Culture much better, in your opinion? I heard the class at SWT was very interesting. Music is just another way of expressing the ideas of a culture and has many times helped prompt social change, much like art, poetry and books have Had the class not always met on Fridays at 3:00, I could tell you more.
The paper is due in 5 days and I've already done half of it, so maybe refrain from being Mr. Know It All. There is a section that REQUIRES me to get information from people who have been to the particular venue, and I figured that some people here might fall under that category. And to whoever said it sounds like a class for football players, you've got the wrong idea. Relevancy aside, the class is very in-depth. Hence the 15-page paper about the sociological aspect of a genre of music. Now, has anyone who has been to Live actually give me the responses I'm looking for? I didn't realize that politely asking for some assistance would get nothing more than childish remarks and irrelevant discussion. Not trying to be rude but I would just like some answers if it's not too much trouble. Thanks.
Dude, It's a basketball bulletin board with a forum to talk about anything you want. Please don't tell me you were really expecting someone to come through for you on this assignment. In the 4+ years that I have been here, I have rarely seen a request like yours be successful.
