Is anyone else planning on getting this tomorrow? I wasn't a big NBA2K fan until last year and this year's version looks sick! Here is a link to some gameplay footage. Make sure to check out the bottom three. http://previews.operationsports.com/previews.aspx?game=nba2k6xbox They lost the ESPN license, but the presentation may have gotten better IMO. They even have Craig Sager on the sideline, wearing his usual crazy suits, doing his "Around the Cooler" segmant. I'm really psyched about the game and can't wait to get it. It will certainly be nice to have basketball again in my XBOX.
It comes out tomorow? I'm getting it. Only because of the price, that is if it's still only costing $20. Sucks they lost the ESPN license...so they only had it for 1 year?
Nah, it's $40 bucks this year. I called Gamespot in Willowbrook mall, and the guy said UPS is backed up so they're not expecting it for a few days. Hopefully Best Buy or the other big names will still get it. I could give two ****s about them severing ties with ESPN. I skip all the fancy stuff anyway, and turn off replays (anyone notice how in 2k5, if you're in quick game mode, even if you have your settings loaded and you turn off replays for that particular game, the next game you play, they're back on? always annoyed me.) But man I love 2K! IIRC they rewrote alot of the code, so Im kind of expecting a very different experience this year. I'll bet it's sweet either way, though
lol, ooops. Edited I used to really like Inside Drive (probably of the minority) and alot of people who worked on that came over for this year's 2K. The have merged alot of ID into what was already great with 2K, which should make for a great game. The great thing will be the individual sliders for each player they took from ID.
I'm going to get it for certain but I want to wait till the xbox 360 comes out to buy it, I'm tired of playing on these consoles, I'm ready for my next generation console to play online.
oh nevermind. espn. I liked nba live last year much better. Great game. Hopefully they still have a license.
From my understanding, EA Sports now has the ESPN license, which I think is weird since they have Steve Kerr and Marv Albert as their announcers. Anyways, been a BIG fan of 2K sports games since the DC days. NFL can still shove it up their @$$ for going exclusive with EA but their NBA games still kicks ass. Was pretty pissed about the $40 price tag this year, but ima wait till I see it for like $30 at Fry's or even $35 at Best buy (use the $5 off coupon on the gamer card to make it $30 ) Either way, im probably renting both Live and 2K6 at Blockbuster this week
As much as I'd like to get a basketball game, I'm getting to the point where I don't want to pay $30-$50 for these annual sports games. I'll probably end up waiting a little while until used copies start showing up at the online EB Games/Gamestop sites. By then, I can get small discount since it is used, and I also might get another 15%-16% off from the CAG codes (not to mention that I might get one of those ~10% discount cards). Or I might just check out the local stores as well and see what I can get there. This would be the first time in 3-4 years or so that I didn't get a basketball game at its release. The sad thing is that it sounds like NBA 2K6 is probably better than at least half of the ones I paid full price for.
I am also tired of paying every year for these games...I love the 2K series, been playing it since the first one came out in 2000. I am just going to update the rosters on my 2K5. I am saving my $ for FIFA 2006.
The last sports game I got was NBA2K4. It was the best BB game Ive ever played and I knew it was the last one I would buy for a long time. I kind of moved on from getting sports games. I guess after playing SO many seasons of Madden and Basketball games....a few new features ever and there isnt enough to keep you interested.
I am in El Paso, TX and I just picked up a copy of NBA Live '06. I payed a hefty price for it though $49.99 I am running home right now to check it out. By the way; What is the difference between 2K6 and Live?
2k6 is more simulation....a lot more strategy involved....Where as Live seems a bit more arcadish, running and dunking..
