I thought he was a future Pro Bowler when he was drafted, and I'm more convinced now. Everyone needs to settle down.

He definitely has the potential to be a Pro-Bowler QB, but obviously he won't be able to reach this level w/ our current personnel.

Would you guys draft Vince Young to replace Carr after next yr? If Young is still on the board when Texans pick (saying we have a bad season).

    He's like Francis.

Great physical tools, but an average qb with a bunch of excuses as to why that is.

I wouldn't put him up there with Hass. Jake is a good comparison.

I would not pick Vince, he has not convinced me yet. David Carr is average. Different systems can make QB's look like Pro Bowlers, other systesm can make you say "what happened to him".

Not a chance. But it would be amusing to watch Young fail (not through any fault of his own, but the OL) while Carr went on to become a star elsewhere. Sadly, I'm getting the feeling we're going to have to go through two or three quarterbacks (all failing, of course) before some of the fans accept that the man under center is next to irrelevant as long as the line is this bad.

Dude everyone knows that, however I dont think the line is as bad as your making them out to be. The running backs gave up at least 3 of those sacks on Sunday. The line is not responsible for Carr throwing into triple coverage or his 3 interceptions on the day. Now they are far from the top 10 lines in the league. And maybe the blocking scheme's are jacked up. David Carr should not get a free pass though. The line is some of the blame but DC is some of the blame too.

Even if the line is not directly contributing to the play... just the mere track record of them being mediocre is enough to change the way defenses play against the Texans, and make it that much harder to throw the ball.

So far, the line is having problem with BASE defense protection, let alone when a team will actually bring an extra LB or S on a blitz. If they can't protect consistently against a BASE defense, how the hell are you going to throw the ball with any sort of consistency... since the entire secondary is still there waiting to pounce.

The line has to establish itself early in games... and in games they've won over the last two years, they've done so. Unfortunately, this happens less often than the alternative (where the line is used and abused... and they just get progressively worse as the game goes on).

So far, average, but I believe that to be the result of him being stuck in the wrong offensive system more than anything else. David Carr has the skills to be a good NFL quarterback, provided the Texans dump Chris Palmer and hire an offensive coordinator who doesn't use a high school playbook.

I think Carr struggles on reading the defense and making audibles.

When 8 men load the box, that's not the time to run the ball.

I always liked the bootleg pass to the TE. Too bad Miller is gone.

If the Texans and their fans get tired of him he will be moved somewhere else or somewhere on his own, say to the Dolphins, and he will start a new great career there. On the Dophins he will be a Trent Dilfer on steroids type quarterback, a lot more talented and able, but will be asked to do the same things Dilfer was asked because of a great defense and great coaching. Then the Texans will go through a junk of load of suck ass quarterbacks, and will become the new Bengals.

Like clock work, all a LB's have to do is pack the line and DC panick's and audibles to the old DD LEft or DD right. If we can predict while watching it on TV what makes him think that the Defense doesnt know this that studys game films all week. Fundamental football are not what the Texans are...

David Carr should give up trying to be an NFL quarterback and put his pretty-boy face in some Abercrombie adds before he gets his grill broken. Dude has that "deer in the headlights" look that guarantees he'll never be a very good QB.
