ESPN Classic has dedicated the weekend to this. I'm glad, it's awesome to see these guys fighting in their prime. So, who do you think was better?

    Tyson was a joke
for a while I bought into the hype
    but
    looking back

Who the hell did fight that is worth mentioning now?
    an Ancient Spinks? McNealy? Mathis?

Everyone he ran into with some skills
kicked the sh*T out of him
    Lewis . . . Holyfield. . . .

Tall guys with long arms who could hold seemed to give tyson a lot of problems. Some of his early competition looked like a bunch of stiffs. If it was ali v tyson, ali would win just because of his size advantage. Tyson also seemed to tire in the late rounds and didn't seem like a boxer able to take a lot of punishment.

No kidding! Thanks for the info, crums17, but your question, with all due respect, is ludicrous. Ali would have pummeled "what's his name" into a bloody mess... taunting the crowd, the boxing world, and the media for making him fight the chump.

They don't call him The Greatest for nothin'. :)

Ali would rope a dope him just like he did Foreman. Even in his prime, Tyson wasn't equipped to go past the early rounds.

Look at how muscled up Tyson was a just 19 years old.

Many think that Lebron James has used steroids, citing that there is no way for a 19 year old to be that big.
    What's Tyson's story?

Who says Lebron used steroids? I wouldn't doubt it with Tyson though.

    ali would win hands down.

purely from a physical standpoint, if tyson wasn't on any steroids, his strength, power etc. at that age is unbelievable. too bad he's nuts, but i i guess that probably helped him at one time.

    Ali. End of story.

Not only was he the better athlete, but he could think. Tyson was just raw power, animal instinct, no thought behind his attacks.

Ali understood the sport of it. Danced the dance.

Tyson was just "shock & awe" and he'd eat your children.

Tyson had tremendous skills. He was good boxer just not as great as some would believe.

i doubt tyson would beat foreman in his prime so i put the chances of beating ali very slim.

It's important to remember that after his 3 year suspension Ali was no longer in his 'prime' ~ the fights against Foreman, Norton, Frazier were all during his decline. He was still an all time great (obviously), but he wasn't the fighter he was in his early 20s.

Tyson would lose to the Ali in his 30s and would be destroyed by the Ali in his 20s.

Uhhh... if I had my eye level on Tyson's crotch, yes, I would have lost as well, man. Check out the GREEN LINES on the shorts...

"Pretty impressive, yes." - [name that movie]
