Goran Dragic, Houston Rockets (4.3 points off opponents’ turnovers per 36 minutes, good for 27.1 percent of his individual scoring)

Dragic’s placement on this list is curious for a variety of reasons (his good but unspectacular steal numbers, the Rockets’ merely league average turnover rate, his lack of elite N.B.A. athleticism, the fact that Houston actually plays slightly slower with Dragic on the court), but the numbers are self-evident and oddly explicable.

At the core of Dragic’s post-turnover effectiveness is the fact that he’s a particularly clever finisher in traffic and skilled in drawing contact on his drives. That combination allows him not only to convert opportunities off turnovers as a runaway fast-breaker, but also while filling the lane without the ball on the wing or trailing behind the initial break. Add all of that together, and Dragic scores on 67.3 percent of his transition opportunities, per Synergy Sports Technology – just a few points short of the ridiculous 72.4 percent mark LeBron James has put up this season.

Thanks for posting - interesting! I don't think Dragic has a lack of athleticism, actually.

He has great athleticism and quickness, like the article, he should have watched him play before writing it.

Goran may be the best in the NBA at jumping the inbounds pass at the top. He gets about a bucket per game from doing that.

    So, who's the Black Dragic?

& is there a stat out there for team with the most non-black players?
Because non-black players lack athleticism, but are sneaky-fast.

Yeah, sounds like he just looked at Dragic and thought "Well he doesn't look very athletic". He may not be a huge leaper, but he's pretty darn quick and very creative near the basket.

I think his ability to finish with both hands, or that signiture move where he can go behind his back with either hand takes a lot of athletecism to do in a full speed run. Dexterity and coordination are a huge part of athletic ability.

He said he wasn't elite. I think that's fair.

Just like to say that Morey turned Aaron Brooks into Goran Dragic and Trevor Ariza into Courtney Lee.

    That is all.

And who will Morey transform with his evil lies next?? Or was it through being too truthful. I can't keep it straight anymore.

I honestly don't understand why the Suns gave up on him as Nash's heir apparent. He looked pretty nice for us even as a backup. I thought he was easily one of the best backup PGs even before Lowry's injury, even if I couldn't imagine he'd be this good. The guy just seem to know how to play basketball.

I would say Dragic does have elite athleticism for an NBA point guard. I mean he's not at insane Derrick Rose, John Wall level, but he's definitely at or above CP3 level.

Well according to this article, Lebron.
