Today the Rocket pitches for win #300 on ESPN. Facing his former team, he tries to enter a very select group. Like him or hate him, don't miss your chance to see history in the making.

Aside from the whole Mike Piazza rivalry, I am not sure how anyone (beside Bosox fan) could dislike him.

    Go Rocket!

I know...I'm pissed I have to work today. I've always admired his work ethic and wish him the best today.

I live in NY. The stations here are hyping this event like crazy. Two hours before the game started, WCBS spent two hours covering other 300-win pitchers, such as Nolan Ryan. There was a nice pic of Nolan Ryan and a young Roger Clemens together.

Holy Shiiiit. Did anybody see Matsui's catch in the third inning?

He hustled for it, Dove, and flipped over for it.

Well, that time he demanded a contract renegotiation whent he Astros were considering trading for him pissed me off just a little. That's why I don't like him.

Down 3-0, and thrown 81 pitched with 2 on and no outs in the fourth....not looking good right now.

    Wakefield with the no-hitter going.....

You know how P.O.'d big George will be if the Sox beat the Yanks in NY while Clemens was trying to make history?

On a holiday, on national TV, with everyone off work to see it?

It looks like he has settled down, and Wake has been hit. The Red Sux are still winning, but the momentum seems to have shifted. *crosses fingers*

I just hope the Rocket's career does not have a happy ending. I can't stand him. Getting beat by his former team was so cool.

I don't like Clemens. I know he's not the only one who throws inside, but there's something about him. He's probably a great guy off the field.

Keep starting these threads prematurely. Maybe you can jinx him to never win 300. :)

I wouldn't say the thread was premature. He was pitching for 300. That is baseball history whether he wins or not. Anyway, if I posted after the game, it would be to late, now wouldn't it. :p The Rocket could be the last guy to get 300 wins, and is most probably the last American Leaguer at the least. Maddox may do it, Glavine probably won't, and no one else is likely to ever again.

300 wins, 4000 strike outs, 6 Cy Young awards. Anyone think he might go to the hall?

There is no doubt that Clemens will win his 300th game and get in the hall of fame but two things:

    1) He will win that 300th game against some other team than the BOSTON RED SOX

    2) The logo on his cap for his plaque when he goes into the hall, much to his dismay, will be "B" for Boston and not a "NY".

Knowing those 2 things and how much he is pissed about them makes me extremely happy.

Nomar's hitting streak goes to 26 games!
