Wasn't Janikowski a FIRST round pick? And while he's been reliable and carved out a long career.... is he still considered to have been worth the pick?
Kicking is not as perfunctory as it used to be; there is tremendous value in having a kicker that can consistently kick the ball into the end zone and make what are now longer extra points. I'm not saying "second round important," but, more and more, better kickers are going to represent a more significant advantage. I think the days of journeymen, stop-gap kickers who move from team to team (basically, the Nick Novacks of the world) are going to become the exception rather than the norm. If he didn't already have one of the best, you know this is an avenue Belicheck would be all over.

Good luck to Randy. Kubiak was faithful to his fellow aggie here but BOB was not having none of that.
