You do realize that Kurt Warner was even better during his first rise to fame, right?

I was trying to do you a favor by not assuming you were thinking Hoyer needed to be far and away the best QB in football to be worth keeping...

And FWIW, Warner's revival was more surprising to me than his initial ascent to stardom.

Guys coming back to all-world level at age 37 after basically 6 years of sucking ass is completely unheard of.

There ya go. Was that so hard?

Funny enough, after all that teeth gnashing, you and I have virtually the same standard set for Hoyer to take the job permanently.

IF he gets my approval , then you know he is the long term.

Said it in the game thread. This is a truly an embarrassing moment for BOB.

Everybody and their mother knew Hoyer was going to be terrible, because there has been mountains of evidence that Hoyer is nothing more than a backup. BOB willingly brings him in and starts him over a guy that at least has significantly more talent and arm strength, and sure enough, he's benched before the first game is even over.

    Just bad decision making.

I have no idea how good Mallett will be if given the starters job. But I do know how good Hoyer isn't.

It's a shame we gave a game away starting a retread backup because the coach liked him more.

No it ain't. If Ryan Mallett is any good it's genius. Playing a lesser QB simply because of pride would have been embarrassing. Winning games is all that matters.

Starting a lesser QB is always embarrassing. It'll be good if he learns from that mistake and fixes it, but BOB's foolish decision to give the job to Hoyer is the main reason the Texans are 0-1 right now.

Mallett showed a lot by not just playing well in the time he got.... but being ready to play the whole time.

Hoyer's INT was bad... he showed flashes on that TD drive, but he's not good enough if he still has the propensity to make a WTF mistake in this system.

If Mallett makes the Pro Bowl, I think it'll be alright.

Not if the Texans miss the playoffs by one game. You simply can't give away victories with stupid decisions like that.

If they only drafted Bridgewater this wouldn't be an issue.

Agree, they'd have named Mallett the starter if that had happened.

Mallett wouldn't even be on the team.

Why not bring Mallet in at the beginning of the second half? Why even let Hoyer see the field in the second half?

No, I hate VY. Just brought up Bridgewater because I like watching you have a tantrum.

Both very good questions. If they pulled Hoyer at the half, the Texans probably win.

    Whatever you say kid.
