I wish he would have given Les 2 billion for the Rockets. You know he's going to spend to win a championship.
the players don't know yet that isn't an act, and that that's really just his enthusiasm.. they'll learn i'm sure
Where do these idiotic myths come from? One, that you have to spend to win, and two, that Les isn't willing to do that? Would you rather we be like the Lakers and pay an aging KB24 gobs of money? Its not just about spending money, it's spending money intelligently. Also, a lot of the people who herald Ballmer as being a great owner are the same ones who criticized his control of MS. The stacked ranking system, Vista, the failed HP slates, Ballmer has a lot he did wrong with MS. Why does him coming to the NBA change any of that? Why is he all of a sudden an amazing owner because he paid slightly above market value for the Clippers with Chris Paul and Blake Griffin near their respective primes?
I am happy for the Clippers and their fans -- I dont know if Ballmer is going to automatically become the best owner in the NBA or anything but you know he is going to change things around drastically there and for the better. I mean even without all the off court issues with Sterling - the on court leadership he provided was probably the worst in the entire league - he rarely cared for that team and let a lot of good talent leave if it meant he could still turn a profit. Ballmer will give the team at least an owner that will try to make the right moves on the court and I am sure the clippers will still do well - I just hope its just not at the expense of the Rockets.
I agree with your earlier statement. But the above is weird. For the negatives you point out above, he had a ton of positives at MSFT also. In fact, I'd venture to say that any leader has successes and failures in his/her past. It's not like the best owners make perfect decisions, are always successful, and win every championship. The good owners are right more than they're wrong, and they're successful more than they're not. Ballmer failed some before and will fail some again as an owner, even if he's a great one.
I also might be a little harsh on the guy, harsher than he deserves. MS is still a powerhouse and he made the company a lot of money in his tenure. Your point is noted and appreciated.
Look it up - - this was a 'vintage' speech-type he gave annually at MS. SB is heads and shoulders above Sterling. Aren't we all?
Dude...you don't have to yell. Thats why you have a microphone. I like when owners are animated and really show that they care. But damn, he needs to calm down a little bit and act at least somewhat professional. For real though, screw CP3, his floppin ***, and his squad. Most overrated star in the league. I hope they continue their run of mediocrity. Screw this owner, he gives off a Gilbert vibe.
Chris Paul joins the ICE bucket challenge... guess what, he flopped too. http://sports.yahoo.com/video/chris-paul-joins-als-ice-195343080.html
