I was thinking about the first time that Steve and Yao meet each other.

    Imagine this...
Yao walks into the the gym and goes up to Steve and puts out his
    hand.

Steve raise his hand high and says something like, "Whatzup,
    Dawg! Welcome to my crib!"

Yao, smiles, and nods, and says, "Dog?"

Steve says, "Yeah Dawg..., hom'me, my'boyee!"

Yao smiles, and says, "Oh yes. You be my brutha! (Vince Carter taught
Yao some lingo before he left China).

I can see this turning into a good friendship, even though Yao is kinda
shy and reserved. Steve will teach him a lot about urban slang. You know
that is going to happen. Before the season ends, Yao will be rapping in
the locker room. You watch. I know that Inside Stuff on NBC will
be trying to make Yao say funny things.

    :D

Its probably best if he sticks to learning English and leaves the ebonics alone until next year with all the stuff he's gonna hear this Fall and Winter. :D

Heh heh...we know what's "best." But we also know what really is
    going to happen.

Heck, you should hear Chris Webber, Peja Stojakovic and Hedo Turkoglu
    talk to each other.

They are "down with it!" :D

Davids:- I pray that such a thing won't happen. Society would become disenchanted very quickly with Yao, if they heard he was a rapper! Let Steve be friendly but not mutual rapping thank you! You don't seem to get it about Asian Oriental culture.Erbonics is certainly not part of it!!Mutual respect should be earned on the basketball court, then a closer friendship could develop.

Not REAL rapping. Just "kidding around rapping."

Just locker room material, that's all.

    :)

I'd like to see Yao rap. Why not? Nothing wrong with that. He has sense of humor, we know that. Once they are winning (and they will), I see Steve and Yao laugh and rap together all time. That'll be fun.

After about 2 weeks into the season:

Francis and Ming in Yao Mings brand new Hummer -

Francis: Wat da hell u listenin to fool?
Ming: You dont like Beach Boys?
Francis: Say wat? (throws the cd out the window)
Ming: Dont you ever touch a Chinese man's cd player!
Francis: Dont mess wit me Yao! I'll b**** slap yo ass back to da Ming dynasty! I will!

    teehee. :D

I can just imagine Yao and Francis (or Cuttino) hangin like Jackie Chan and Tucker in Rush Hour. :D

Francis will like Ming when he helps raise his stats to 10 assists per game.

Or covering up his arse on the defensive end, or giving him open looks off PNR. Winning will wash away all the paranoia.

Panda, I wouldn't be too surprised if Francis is realy conserned that he is going to be expected to produce at least 10 assists. This could make him into the playmaker and not the top scorer.

You are right, Francis can definitely be better at playmaking. His talent isn't maxing out yet. Adding Yao will give him more ease on that aspect. Ya know, the way Yao catches the ball should get Francis one more assist per game. Yao doesn't eat butter with his bare hands, unlike Cato.

Ipbman:- You have no insight into the chinese character that would give you cause to have such a thaught. You need to read the post by Windandsea
'Yao Ming Private Person'Yao will be slow on the uptake of American Culture, most of his energy will be devoted towards basketball.Secondly towards the English Language. Thirdly towards obtaining food compatible with his taste and digestive system.Fourthly getting along with people and calling home.
