    Mix Diskerud to NYCFC
Jozy Altidore to Toronto FC in exchange for Jermaine Defoe

Good to see the MLS getting the marquee American names back. We need to grow this league, and this is the way to do it.

I just wish they would make some changes to the way they bring in these players... like the league office seems to pick and choose where designated players go and if the league wants to be taken seriously they need to be more transparent

Yeah, unfortunately that is still jacked up beyond belief.

Side note: Bradley and Jozy playing on the same team could have some interesting benefits though. Bradley should be able to learn where Altidore likes to be, and what kind of service he prefers and then translate that with ease over the USMNT whenever they get called in for matches. Especially if Klinsman continues to insist he is more of a attacking midfielder.

I disagree. At this point, I'd still rather see top American talent play in Europe among the best in the world. What's worse is we all knew this would happen to Jozy the moment he signed with Sunderland. That is a team that plays behind the ball and pummels opponents into draws so they aren't relegated.

Jozy played well enough in the Dutch league that, if he'd stayed and kept that pace, perhaps a bigger EPL team would've come calling. Sunderland killed his confidence and his game. Now, he's coming back to MLS with his tail between his legs to a Toronto team that has been nothing other than a disappointment throughout its entire existence.

While I want to see MLS continue growing, I agree with Jürgen that success at the national team level will then bolster the domestic league. If the USMNT's best players are only playing each other in MLS, I don't have much confidence in them when they play the Ronaldos, Messis, Di Marias and Courtois of the world. However, I would love to be proven wrong.

I do agree that National Team success will boost the interest throughout the country, and that our players playing overseas is much more beneficial to the currently USMNT. My only concern is that even with a successful national team, people will only care about that success once every 4 years. There are other competitions like the Gold Cup, and the Copa Americas, but I feel like those just don't generate the attention like they should. We won the last Gold Cup, but I still feel like it was barely noticed on a national scale.

Having those players come and play here, we get to see them throughout the year, and keep them relevant in everyone's minds. I'm not saying I am right by any means, and this is all purely opinion in which I could be completely on the wrong side.

The MLS Draft is tomorrow. The Dynamo will get the #8 pick.

According to a mock draft from MLSsoccer.com, it's either going to be Dzenan Catic (Forward), Nick Besler (Midfielder), or Conor Donovan (Defender)

No clue who this guy is, but all the mocks I've seen have him nowhere in the first round. I'll hold judgement until I actually see some clips, and do some research though.

Apparently the guy killed it at the combine in Florida.

No idea what kind of stuff they go through at the combine for this, but hopefully it isn't like the combine heroes in NBA and NFL.

Toronto signs Sebastion Giovinco from Juventus. Should be interesting to see how him and Altidore work together up front.

They basically just play and do interviews. In the past there were some "measurements" and such being taken but I don't think they still do that.

For the most part it's just 11 on 11 every other day and interviews w/teams, coaches and GM's every other day.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the draft disappear in the next 5 years. There's becoming less and less of a point when the players are being signed early on as Homegrown Players. They can still go to college and even play in college...but be a part of a prgram with a MLS team (a la Jordan Morris w/ Seattle). The draft is purely an American sport thing and will likely become a thing of the past as the league continues to grow up. How many star players today were recent draft picks vs ones that were brought up in the systems?

I can only think of Geoff Cameron. He went from being a 3rd round draft pick to now playing in the Premier League with Stoke City. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geoff_Cameron

I disagree. The draft won't go anywhere(but the rounds do need to be reduced) because there will always be players going into the college system that either didn't come up through an MLS academy(for various reasons-location, team preference, etc) or players that become better in their college years and those players will be filler to round up the bottom of MLS rosters(especially when the league increases the roster sizes).

Also, for players with star potential from very recent drafts, I go with two defenders who have the potential to be really good for the national team- Matt Hedges and Steve Birnbaum. For prior players from other drafts, there aren't too many in each draft, usually about one or two.
Darlington Nagbe comes to mind(I don't rate him as high as others seem too but I'm pretty sure once he is officially a citizen he will be called in to the US team pretty quickly).
Omar Gonzalez, AJ De La Garza, Matt Besler and Graham Zusi also come to mind. Tim Ream as well, (even though he started very brightly in MLS and then had a down period after his move to England, the last couple of years he has been solid). Amobi Okugo is a very underrated player and one of the best at his position in MLS. Steve Beitashour, good defender and if not for the MLS draft and getting to play in MLS, maybe he wouldn't have made the Iranian team(or maybe he'd have just gone over to a lower league club in Europe, who knows) point is, the MLS draft gave him a way to turn professional. I just think it needs to be reduced to maybe just two rounds as teams use it to fill the rest of the roster.

Met the new coach the other night. He's very engaging and funny. He should be out front a lot as this team tries to bring in new fans.
