If Morey wanted Rondo, he would have landed Rondo.

    It's that simple, really.

I've read some responses on here where there are people who are upset that the Rockets couldn't land Rondo.

First off, Rondo isn't Morey's top target. Secondly, there's no telling how his addition would affect Harden. And lastly, it's not worth giving up D-Mo and/or the NO pick for a potential <1 year rental.

If Rondo was a good fit - then you make the deal - even if it takes D-Mo or the NO pick, but he probably wasn't.

With that said, I hope Morey makes a splash by the February trade deadline. The West just got a lot stronger.

Sports in a nutshell. If you want to have/keep a player, you do it. If not, you chuck the deuce.

Rondo would be a poor fit next to Harden.

Bev/Canaan may not be the sexiest guys in the world but they're the guys we need playing next to Harden. We don't need two ball dominant players in the same backcourt.

For years Lakers fans complained about Derek Fisher being the worst starting PG in the NBA, yet him and Kobe made for a dominant backcourt. Good enough to win 5 championships.

If that makes you feel a little better, you can say that.

They dropped out of the talks a few hours earlier. Seems like the Celtics wanted more than what the Rockets wanted to put up for RR.

    Morey wanted Rondo.

    Cuban wanted him more.

If the Rockets didnt want Rondo they would not have been talking to the Celtics about him.

Morey wanted Rondo just enough to increase his price tag, other than that he didn't really want Rondo.

    Sure increased the price tag!

    Brandon Wright!

    LOL

Everyone, all of a sudden, has become the official spokesman for the Morey, the Rockets, and their insider strategy.

Morey doesn't have an insider strategy, his moves have always been the same. Maximize flexibility while putting a competitive team on the floor, he's done that every year since he took the job.

If you think Rondo doesn't fit, you can trade him for other big names. It's much easier than going after stars with a bunch of NBDL players. Whoever doesn't want Rondo on your team is idiot.

    It's the truth.

You don't think the Rockets had much more attractive pieces than what the Celtics ended up settling for with the Mavs' pieces?

It's not a question of what we had, but a question of what we were willing to give up to acquire a player who wasn't a good fit here.

Should have clarified , since the title does make it sound weird.

Morey wanted Rondo - of course. What I meant was, he didn't really want Rondo that badly. If he thought Rondo was that missing 3rd star that he's been chasing, he would've pulled the trigger.

Big names like Jae Crowder and Brandan Wright? lol...

Actually Woj reported that the Celtics felt Morey was involved ONLY to increase the price tag.

Objectively, a package of DMo, Pels pick and Canaan/Johnson is more attractive. Morey was obviously holding back.

I'm gonna start a new Rondo thread titled "Who is better...HTown Diehard at counting threads or Rajon Rondo at shooting free throws?"
