Many analysts are predicting that O'Brien would like Bortles, because of his "NFL Size". I don't know much about Bortles, and I thought it would be a good idea to have a dedicated thread where we can hear some opinions about the UCF quarterback. <HR> UPDATE: Adding video... Good idea. He is playing tonight against Baylor so we'll have an opportunity to see him in a small sample. I personally haven't seen him play yet, only highlights. However, IMO I'd rather take a look at Mallett if we decide not to gamble on Manziel or Bridgewater. Rather than draft Bortles.
What we really need is one thread devoted to QB discussion. There's no need to have a thread devoted to every QB declaring for the draft.
Trade down get Bortles. I've seen many of his games and he will be a stud in the NFL if paired with a good QB coach. Possibly draft Clowney and Bortles 2nd pick
Bortles was 4-5 round pick 3 months ago? I was never a fan of guys that got hot heading toward the draft. Bortles may have tools but against SC he looked very pedestrian.
I think Bortles could be a solid starter, but he will never be a guy that could be marketed as a superstar.
Bortles will have an 8-10 year NFL career. I can't see him being a franchise QB guy though. He seems like a David Garrard/Andy Dalton/Chad Henne type. Good enough to start on some teams, but probably not going to make the highlight reels.
I said the same exact thing to my brother yesterday. Bortles is a lot closer to a Locker or Gabbert than to a Roethlisberger.
Besides the 5.37 40, this should tell you what you need to know about Mallett: http://gcobb.com/2011/04/20/qb-prospect-ryan-mallett-doesnt-like-money/
