This has nothing to do with reaching. The Texans passed up on taking a good QB st fair spots. And I agree it was stupid. But this whole reaching stuff is confusing the issue.
Well Jimmy was a reach at the top of the 2nd with the other quarterbacks that were on the board... Also can't pass up on Xavier for him. Just like the Texans couldn't pass up over Clowney for a quarterback. Same rules apply.
Maybe maybe no. I don't see garrApolo over Xavier as a reach really. Xavier isn't like clowney And they could have traded down or up.
Jimmy is from a small weak conference and hardly anyone knew who he was until right before the draft. I posted Jimmy was just as good if not better than Teddy in the 1st Teddy thread back in February when Jimmy was ranked around the 16th-20th best quarterback and got cussed smooth out... Lol... I'm not saying the Texans shouldn't have drafted him but if Blake is a reach in the 1st round _ Jimmy was a reach at the top of the 2nd round with the none-quarterback positions that were still available... That 2nd round pick was like another 1st round pick. So can't be upset with the Texans for passing him up.
We are acting as if these guys have played out their careers, when in reality, they haven't taken a snap. SMDH. LOL.
I don't think Houston is going to regret passing on Bortles since Clowney was the right pick. I think they're going to regret not trading back up to grab Bridgewater or Manziel, or even taking Derek Carr in round 2. Rolling Ryan Fitzpatrick out there is a big middle finger to the fans.
Neither has Clowney... Hope that dude can turn water into wine like you guys talk him up to be able to do. The prototypical QB's in the draft were Blake, Mettenburger, Logan Thomas, and Savage... 3 of those guys have looked good so far in the pre-season.
And was the first major disappointment with Bill OBrien followed by naming Fitz the starter before any real competition AND doing the same for Derek Newton.
Wtf did every QB we passed up in the draft, do better than our own QBs? Lol well it matches the Texans "luck" over the years...
Game winning TD drive in crunch time. Against the same team that crushed us. It's Still Preseason but I'm just saying.
Blake threw 2 interceptions... But that kid is a playmaker. http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-game-highlights/0ap3000000398539/Week-3-Blake-Bortles-highlights Tougher task for him this week playing San Diego. But so far he's been looking like the one that got away (or we just didn't want to believe he was actually good).
Bridgewater didn't throw any interceptions. In the grand scheme of things, a lot of quarterbacks in this league could be considered "the one that got away" by many teams. The fact of the matter is that we shall never know how seriously each team considered each prospect each year. Because of that, its hard to call them "the one that got away." Especially after one game - or a half a game.
