I just found out today that my white and gray cat that disappeared was killed by a possum in the neighbors yard. The cat just turned 1. We have this epidemic from recent construction. They are popping up everywhere and are huge. So I was thinking of avenging the rather cruel death of my cat (throat ripped out) and was going to look into buying a 22 caliber and terminate with extreme prejudice. I would only use it for these wild animals and it would certainly trim down on possible diseases. I'm a little sad I guess. Do you have a hand gun of this size and do you have any stories of inspiration? I was also going to buy a cowboy hat and go by the name of Bud Davis.
Sounds dangerous. I'd recommend something like a trap or some other method that doesn't involve shooting firearms in the vicinity of other people.
From hell's heart, I stab at thee!!! For hate's sake, I spit my last breath at thee, ... thou damned possum!!!
This is why I could never live in the US. Crazy-ass neighbours running around with handguns shooting at possums. Yeesh.
I'd recommend a Ruger 10/22 rifle for the job. Much more accurate, or maybe you're a better shot than I am. Or, you could get a 45 cal long colt revolver. Sure it sounds like overkill... but it also fires a 410 shotgun round, which is about perfect .
borrow a boxer from the dog pound for a few days and theyll be gone. my boxer ran through a thick wood fence chasing down a possum!
so you are assuming he is a crazy ass because he wants to kill an aggressive possum? i don't think a handgun is the best tool, however. A rifle 22 would ideal. Or trap it
You are better off getting one of those cages that trap wild animals. That way you can have a decent possum meal and avenge the cat's senseless and needless death in glory. Remember to pour out a little bit of your 40 oz. in honor of the cat.
is the animal innocent if it actually killed his cat? is taking out a rodent really that horrible? is every person that puts out rat poison a tool? this is a rodent, after all, and they can overpopulate an area very quickly. a tree somewhere needs a hug.
I'm all in favor of killing possums.......nasty ass creatures. However, I'm with you here. For all their disturbing looks, I've never heard of one attacking anything the size of a cat. Especially something that could bite back. Don't they eat grubs, insects and dog food? Unless your cat was jacking with it, in which case...............
