Harden because of efficiency and allround game. Westbrook has been shooting like 43 fg% and barely 50 efg% in February, the numbers are inflated.
harden's been the best with the least in a super tough western conference who cares if he wins it with a low win% if he deserves it that or lebron. lebron's kinda like mj that way... hard to give it to anyone else. curry and westbrook are having/have had amazing years, no disrespect
The rockets hardly have THE LEAST. Ya'll think because Dwight ain't playing that poor harden has to go it alone. LOL Yall have: Trevor Ariza (underrated sf) Terrence Jones, averaging 13, 7 and 2 blocks a game. Beverly, a top 5 perimeter defender. Josh Smith, a veteran stretch big Jason Terry Corey Brewer Dmo come on man, poor harden.
Valid point of course he has a pretty good support group. But without harden this team is not making the playoff given dwight's injuries. Put this way - who has more talent behind him - curry with klay (at max), green (getting max next year), bogut and Barnes with iguodala, lee, Livingston and speights coming off the bench or our team with a clearly injured Dwight? We now have pretty good depth but very single media member would go with warriors. They would be in the middle of the playoffs even without Step. That's why harden should be mvp.
I know you're a Grizzlies fan through and through but how can you disagree that Harden as had the least to work with, compared to all the other MVP candidates? Trevor Ariza - Great defensively but was shooting at or below 30% from three in December and January. Have you seen him try and create off the dribble or on fastbreaks? Terrence Jones - Been great since he has come back but has missed 41 games aka half the season! Beverley - lol at "top 5 perimeter defender". He was letting players like DJ Augustin have career nights off him. It got so bad we had to put Ariza on point guards like Lillard and Paul. Still shooting under 40% from the field. Smith - Been great but got him late in the season. Still shooting far too much from three, lately. Jason Terry - Not shooting great or can't run an offense at all. Corey Brewer - Same with Smith, and his three point shot has fallen off since the first 8 games here. DMo - Amazing in the first half of the season but has fallen off a cliff since returning from All-Star break. Even then, tell me when any other Rocket, besides Harden, can explode for 35+ point nights regularly or even 50 point nights like Thompson (51) and Irving (55) have done on the Warriors/Cavaliers. Has any Rocket scored 30+ in a game this season, other than Harden? Nope. Bottom line, Harden has had the less to work with and has been the most consistent and valuable player to his team this season. Just because Gasol lost his MVP candidacy 20 games into the season, doesn't mean you can spew useless and incorrect analysis around as you please.
Gasol should be an MVP candidate, if it weren't about stats and usage rate. The guy is integral to what the grizzlies do both offensively and defensively. On a team that has the 3rd best record in the league. But that's beside the point. I don't care one iota about the MVP award.
No. The MVP Award is antiquated and not in line with the current league image. Back in the 80s the league HAD to promote its stars. These days, giving an award for being a ball dominate offensive player seems pretty ridiculous to me. The nba is moving away from a star-driven league to a more European version. The league needs to get on board. What message does it send to young players that guys like Westbrook are celebrated. Ummm
yeah. im pretty sure no other professional sports league of any kind has a MVP award, especially euro basketball. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Euroleague_MVP
I'll take your word on that. Westbrook may have his flaws but there's no denying he's a hell of a player. I think there's room in the league to celebrate individual talent in its scope. No individual award be it all-NBA teams or what have you will ever supersede the Finals winner. Plus it gives Spoiler us perennial also-rans a consolation prize.
WB has no chance to win. It's a 3 man race. Season to date, LeBron is clearly 3rd at this moment in time. With ~20 games remaining, he is within improbable striking distance. However, it's unlikely both guys in the lead falter enough for him to get it. The two clear front-runners are Harden and Curry and I have to go with Harden for right now. If the Rockets fade, Curry has it in the bag (and vice versa).
Just wondering, who do you think gets the two backcourt spots on the All NBA 1st Team? Because isn't it about individual success and not team success?
