I suppose everyone read where Steve treated many students at Maryland after the tornado disaster to dinner.

By chance, my daughter and her male friend (deaf) ran into Steve and another at a "Dave and Busters" pool hall at a local mall in Rockville, Md this past Friday night. My daughter mentioned that her friend wanted to meet him. Steve Francis subsequently invited them to play pool for a few games after hugging my daughter's friend. Being a NBA star has not changed this "regular guy". And believe it or not, this 2nd team All-American does not have his jersey hung at Maryland along with the other former Maryland players??? He needs to have his number retired even playing for just one year. Does Walt have his number retired? He was great @ maryland during their dark years.

This guy really gets around. I was in Houston this weekend on business and I saw Stevie eating alone at Ruth Chris Steakhouse on Richmond. For what its worth, he told me that we would know Monday (meaning today) what was up with M Jax's situation.

Fred...when did you graduate UMD? 1992 here. Did we go thru this already?

Charles Woodson didn't get his jersey retired either and he won the Heisman so I guess they want you to stay all four years to hang your jersey.

StevieRebel, Walt had his jersey hung in the Cole Field House rafters. It is Gary Williams decision on whose jersey gets hung, but IMO with the publicity and stellar play that Francis gave Maryland, not to mention being 2nd team All-American, I would definitely hang his jersey. Gary Williams told Steve Francis that if he stayed one more year he could play the point! A position that Steve Francis should have been playing in his junior year while Maryland's Terrell Stokes played point (a no threat shooter and a no threat penetrator). It was Houston that finally got Francis in the position where he belongs as a triple threat.

NJRocket I finished at Maryland in late 60's. I work as a budget analyst a few blocks from the White House. All my 4 kids and I know Terence while my youngest son played with him at Thomas Johnson High School in Frederick, Md. My only connection to Steve Francis is that he went to my high school Montgomery Blair in Silver Spring, Md. while Steve Francis has a close common friend with one of my sons. You're right, Francis gets around, I was surprised he was in Maryland and not Houston on Friday night. FREDTERP
