You really need to check yourself in this thread.

First, you don't read the link completely, and then, you apply facts from the original story to my hypothetical and b**** about it. My hypothetical was pretty specific and doesn't deal with how they drove up. It wasn't meant to explain or excuse anything in the original story. Just something I was wondering about.. hence the "I wonder" part of the opening sentence...

If you want to deal with reality, then you probably shouldn't respond to a hypothetical.

it'd be a little easier for me to accept the necessity of killing a 12 year old kid with a toy gun in the park if he hadn't have been gunned down before the car even stopped moving.

Fair enough. I apologize. In my defense this topic makes my blood boil.

Yeah, I'm not reading anyone in this thread saying it was necessary, but I'm sure some are saying that, somewhere.

What I see in this thread is some people saying this outcome is within the realm of possibility when you throw a rookie cop into a situation with a tween (possibly a short adult?) waving around a gun (could be a lethal firearm?)

But I should shut up. I haven't even watched the video and don't really want to do so. I just hate to see the media get another piñata to hammer on for a month, getting everyone frothing over an anecdote instead of talking about an important national topic. I'm out.

I probably would have felt the same way, until I watched the video. It's not graphic really if that's what you're avoiding. It's like one of those black and white game cameras or something, more like stop motion/frames than anything else. But it does give you a sense of how really quickly everything happens.

Can we stop taking accountability away from whoever gave the child a replica pistol? That's where this all started.

For real, you give a 12 year old a replica pistol and then let them roam the streets without supervision and bad things can happen. This story is a tragic misunderstanding.

****in idiots, why would you even pull up that close if you knew he potentially had a weapon.

From the looks of it they pulled up right in front of him and started shooting.

The ads at the bottom of this page are creepy. I guess the ads are generated by the tags for this thread. A bunch of toy guns that look 100% like real guns.

Do you know how easy it is to pull off those orange caps from the fake toy guns from the $1 store to make it look like a real gun?

This is a stupid ass statement, kids play with toy guns ("replicas") all the time that look like real guns because they're fu**in kids. Doesn't mean cops need to pull up in drive by mode on them does it? Sh** isn't that the reason grown ass men play COD and games like that, because it comes closest to the real thing.

I hate idiots like you that shrug this off as a tragic "misunderstanding". WTF.

And if you pull those things off, you are intentionally making your toy look real which can lead to misunderstandings that can prove fatal. Anyway, stay triggered if you like but it won't change anything and will just provide some comedy for others.

You're so out of touch. Don't even know why people (including me).

Kids are kids that's why they pull them off intentionally because it looks "cool". Just like grown ass men playing GTA or COD that thinks its cool because its the closest thing to real like.

Doesn't change the fact that they are kids playing with toys not grown as man playing with their 9mm in the front yard.

"Kids" play with real guns too you know....oh, that's right, you have to ignore that fact in order to pretend you have a point. Oh well, it's okay, I understand that you simply don't get it and I pity you for it.
