It seems everyone has an opinion about black folks.

 

Sometimes I'll read a post, get pissed off, and type out a response. Then reread my response before posting, realize I feel better now, and just delete it instead of posting it. Self venting I guess.

As for the OP... What Nook said. ^^^

Conservatives black guy du jour. They've moved on from Ben Carson, Allen West, that 999 dude and that guy who posted a video on Facebook.

 

I agree with:

Well, hell...

...I could have told Mr. Riley that. Saved him a lot of time and trouble, too.

 

I also hear that some of his *best* friends are black.

 

Crack and the ensuing War on Drugs/incarceration blitz, massive Reagan budget cuts for programs targeting minorities and the poor (ending "minority programs" was an issue of morality for him), along with reduced federal funds for inner cities/urban development, manufacturing corporations leaving the US and the residual shrinking of unions (in the 70's blacks were heavily working class and about 30% were in unions)...1980s were not the best for African Americans.

 

The only opinions that matter on issues that face black people in the United States are those opinions held by black or white democrats. White republicans are too white and black republicans are just puppets.

Oh it's actually a lot more to do with the message. As long as the Republican message is screw you, work harder and tax cuts for the wealthy because that **** will trickle down then there's not a whole lot to talk about. They can rail on with their usual talking points and how they want their 1950's America back but none of it is a solution to systemic poverty. So put up or shut up.

 

Pretty much.

 

The only ones that matter are the thoughtful ones that are grounded in fact.

The ones that start out "how liberals are ruining teh blacks" that come from the wingnut media feedback loop from paid members of the winger-industrial complex are generally not the thoughtful ones.

The fact that the author is apparently black doesn't make it a thoughtful one, which somebody thought it did.

 

Being a member of the editorial board of a major newspaper such as the WSJ is a better credential than the vast majority of the posters on this site have to their name.

Ultimately I don't care what he says. Not because he lacks credibility, but because he is spitting into the wind.

 

I guess everybody ultimately has to help themselves.

Now it is a lot easier to help yourself if you are the kids of Rupert Murdoch.

It is also a lot easier to help your self if you have cheap college tuition like we had before higher minimum wages for young folks to work their way through college, like we had before; more unions and higher wages like we had for those without a lot of professional training like we had before etc.
