My preference of course depends on who is available. Only WRs I would really like in the 1st are: Parker, White, and Cooper. Another pick I would like is Landon Collins at safety. At OLB I like Fowler and Beasley but I'm pretty sure they won't be available. I'll live with Dupree. Kendricks might be a reach at 16 but he fits a need. I'll be fine with Gurley if the draft looks something like this: Gurley, McKinney, Funchess, Ekpre-Olomu. As you can see I don' know good OLBs outside of the 1st two rounds which is why I would like one in the 1st instead.

McKinney in the 2nd is who I would like them to grab regardless of which way they go in the 1st. His game tape is much better than his combine numbers IMO and he can play multiple positions in the LB core.

I would be absolutely stunned if they went TE in RD1 - name 1 first round TE talent? I honestly can't think of any. If they are looking for a TE they will get much better value in the 3rd or 4th round, where I'm sure guys like Clive Walford (personal favorite so perhaps I'm biased and want to wait) & O'Leary will still be available.

I agree it's a rather large need, but not 1 we will fill on Day 1 of the draft, IMO.

As far as the tight ends go, I still have large amounts of hope for Ryan Griffin and the Polish Hat. I think they are both young and could still develop well in this system.

No way we draft a tight end in the first.

Are there any TEs even first round worthy?

If the Texans could get a pro-bowl TE in the first round, OBie would get all over that like a bad haircurt and a cheap suit. Alas, there is not.

If we get a TE at some pint in the draft it will be the kid from penn st.

Don't mean to contradict, but I doubt they draft a big, in line blocking combo tight end. That would be giving up on CJ Fiedorowicz. They also have Ryan Griffin to back up at the "Y" position.

If they draft a TE, I bet he'll be a bit smaller and faster, and much more of a reciever than a blocker. The guys who come to mind are Walliford (spelling?) from Miami, O'Leary from Florida St., or the kid from South Alabama who killed it at the combine.

Jessie James from Penn St., despite the great name, is a big lumbering dude who can block like a boss but is much less of a receiving threat than CJ.

Think of Fiedorowicz as Gronk. He's supposed to be the guy who can block like an O lineman, but still be a recieving threat. They need more of a pure Aaron Hernandez pass catcher who is more built for speed and quickness than size and strength (hopefully one whose favorite hobby isn't murder).

Just for fun, here are some guys I like based on need and position. If the Texans copied this draft, I am sure they would get a C grade.

1st round- Take the best available defensive player. Keeping it simple.

2nd - Phillip Dorsett WR- Everyone knows this kid and for good reason. At one time he was rated as a 3rd pick, but lately scouts are trying to boost his scouting report to make him sound like a first rounder. I wouldn't mind "reaching" for this guy in the second. Mallet will need all the weapons this year and this guy is a straight nuke... would go well with our other one.

3rd - Denzel Perryman ILB- considered an old school linebacker. This is a guy you need on championship team. A very solid tackler who's biggest flaw is his coverage skills. Is a third round pick worth a 2 down player? He better take special team duties seriously then, which I know he would. Love this guy.

4th - David Cobb RB - Alot of people want tod gurley as our first round pick, but don't forget how deep this RB pool is. David Cobb will be a day 1 player in the NFL. He is fluid, smart, and put up nice numbers for how bad of a line he ran behind. His biggest flaw is his speed, because the guy only has one speed. He is a guy you give the ball to at 4th and 1. People are now rating him as a 3rd pick so to get him in the 4th would be an incredible pick for Foster's replacement.

5th - Tyrus Thompson OT- just a big guy who would make an excellent project. He shows great potential, but his work ethic has come into question, because he will not fully block out his guy if the ball isn't run in his direction. College is really stressful for athletes and they may not take football seriously, because it's not their paying job. The guy has a family (wife and two kids) and hopefully the idea of full time football gets him to get his head out of his butt. It's a risky pick.

5th (comp)- Damian Swann CB- really nice size and can cover taller receivers/TE. Plays conservatively and won't make a lot of WOW plays such as interceptions. His speed and tight hips are his biggest flaw. Of course there are some better players in the fifth, but I really wanted to draft an CB.

6th - Anthoney Jefferson SS- Here is a smooth player from UCLA who I would love for the Texans to grab late in the draft. A former CB who takes good angles in coverage while running through recievers as the ball is coming. He has had some injury problems, but I am hoping he will make for a productive back up safety who can make sure big plays rarely happen on his end of the field.

7th- Evan Spence WR - Maybe my favorite unknown WR in this year's draft. A very underrated WR at Ohio who had a Pretoria of WR talent. He may not have the receiver skill set as a lot of these later round WRs, but he does something very few do if any. The guy can straight up block. He has an entire highlight of not catches, but blocks. He will do all your dirty work and for a 7th round pick you couldn't ask for more.

I think we still have a few more picks, but I hope we drop them to move up and grab a few of these players.

Anyone else have a crazy terrible draft?

If Gurley isn't available, I expect the #Texans to trade down and pick up Eric Kendricks, Arik Armstead or Jaelen Strong - @walterfootball

Enjoy this dream while it lasts #Texans fans, because I'm probably moving Gurley up before draft day. – @DraftCampbell

They sucks. Although I'd be ecstatic with any of those. Gurley would be my top choice, followed by Bud Dupree. Aside from that, I'd love a trade down and Kendricks, Armstead, or Strong.

I'm very intrigued by Armstead's size. With Watt and Wilfork helping him put it together, he could be a big time player for this team. He's a boom or busy type pick, in my opinion. He'd be crazy scary if he boomed, Clowney was just okay, and we had Watt.

gurley is the best player in the draft. people underrated the rb position in the nfl even though it's a passing league. if we pick gurley to pair with foster we would be set once foster is done

That's good, then, because they have 3 6th rounders - theirs and 2 compensatory picks at the end of the round.
