The NBA has a few rules on unsportsmanlike conduct - why don't they extend it to flopping and give out fouls to players who obviously flop or even other "abuses of the rules" like initiating ridiculous contact after getting a defender in the air near the 3-pt line. Reffing is already difficult and this would perhaps make it even more so - but this type of ruling has helped in the NHL... why not give it a shot in the NBA?

Some people don't like having a whole bunch of videos embedded on a page, so there's nothing wrong with just providing links.
flopping is not basketball. can you imagine flopping in a pickup game? youd get the crap beaten out of you. ugh. worst aspect of the nba, by far.
I'd like to see the player that gets the foul called on him go over to the flopper on the floor and start applauding him, then look into the crowd and act like he is giving him an Oscar….haha
That would be hilarious. i think they should point it out more. It's getting ridiculous now. The Barron Davis and Horry ones were about as bad as the brazilian soccer team. it should be made a technical foul for the obvious ones.
IDK about your games, but I used to play with guys who would call foul everytime they took it the hole, even when they weren't touched. I have never called a foul on somebody else in a game. Don't you just wish everyone was honest and would say when they fouled someone? I hate flopping, particularly when it isn't even close to a foul. At least that last one of Gasol was reasonable. Those other ones were terrible. Referees need to watch the game, not the reactions.
Your right on here. In pick up games there are always the whiners that call fouls on every play. There are also a lot of good guys who will actully call their own foul. It's not a stretch to figure which of these type players become the floppers and whiners on the big stage. With some people winning is everything. With others it is just as important as how you got there as well.
haha hell yeah. You can tell he doesn't flop well because that was almost too obvious. Hes just giving Utah a taste of their own medicine. The slow motion reply is the best. You can see them touch and then see Baron all of a sudden fall straight to the ground.
i was walking around the corner and bumped shoulders with a co-worker. i flopped and spilled my coffee.
LOL that’s awesome. Too bad Chappelle isn't doing his show any more so he could do an "Everyday Life Flop" skit. Similar to his all sports And 1 mix. <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/DWeutGWd9zQ&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/DWeutGWd9zQ&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>
Not entirely true. I've done it in a pick up game before, and if done well, you'll get the call and they'd actually apologize.
