I was out late with some friends last night when a couple of us wanted to get some donuts and kolaches (it was around 5:30AM). After a couple of minutes thinking about it none of us could come up with anything besides Ken's Donuts on Guadalupe. Any recommendations from fellow clutchfans in Austin?
There's that Shipley's way down south on Brodie but as much as I love Shipley's I'm not going all the way down there for a few donuts.
Head north, my friend, to my neck of the woods. Round Rock Donuts is where it's at! You'll thank me later, but be prepared- there seems to be a long line no matter what time of day.
There's a Krispie Kreme on 183N, near McNeal, that I believe is 24 hours. Round Rock Donuts opens at 4am. Though, personally, I walked down the Drag half drunk many times to get to Ken's at 3am. Their donut holes are tops.
You beat me to it. When they've got hot fresh donuts, Airport smells like donuts for a couple blocks. Try to resist that temptation!
I love that stretch of Airport. Everything is so cheap and good. You have Mrs. Johnson's, Tamale House (full lunch plate for $3), The Stallion, Quality Seafood, and not to mention the best video store on the planet - I heart video.
I saw the Texas donut at that place on Man vs Food. Next time I go to Austin I have to get one of those.
Hmmmm...I've never really thought of it that way, but you're right. That's a nice stretch of road...for the price. Quality Seafood OWNS! Once they put in the bar, it was all over. Ice-cold Live Oak Pilz on tap with oysters and clams!
Weird, I just deleted a work email (that I never followed up on) with that exact verbiage in the subject. It was received this morning at 7:41 AM - sent by a guy named Sheldon.
YES my parents go there every time they go to Austin. If I know they are going I always make sure to mysteriously pop in for a visit when they return!!
