Had to go back and reread Morey's tweet to make sure I wasn't seeing things cuz it wasn't posted here yet.

I really hope he can find some playing time (as well as some semblance of a jump shot). An overall very useful player that contributes in a lot of categories.

    Great pickup

Great defensive mentor for Harden and added insurance in case Harden gets injured

I hope he teaches Harden to be a better defender and Harden teaches him how to shoot.

This guy's shooting is very inconsistent year to year. He had three good years with Utah, a bad year with Memphis, decent with Chicago, and horrible with NY and OKC. His assists to TO is averaged at about 2. He can't rebound worth a damn and even his FT% fell year to year. What's up with this guy?

Its all part of Morey's new secret statistical analysis

    SEC wins championships:

    PG: Beverly (Arkansas)
    SG: BJ Young (Arkansas)
    SF: Brewer (Arkansas)
    PF: Parsons (Florida)
    C: TJones (Kentucky)

    Dat SEC speed

    He's our no-need-to-defend wing.

His effectiveness, like with so many role players, is very dependent on whether he fits in the system. If it's a motion offense were he can make a lot of cuts to the basket (and gets the ball), he will score some points on decent percentages. If you're going to ask from him to spread the floor with outside shooting, you're doomed. I assume Morey feels he can fit within the system.

We are not bringing him in for his offense. We need wing defenders. He will play limited minutes and in match up situations. Good young vet to have in the locker room also. That's it. We have enough scoring on the team.

If you look at defensive role players, their shooting is always wild from year to year because they don't get anything run for them.

He's been a decent cutter and garbageman offense player in the past, hopefully he will find it again.

Good points. He does seem to somehow score off hustle plays, loose balls, and gravitating to open areas.

Tony Allen still gets burn for playoff teams. Even as a good defender, he'd probably lose one on one against 90% of the league - that's how bad he is creating for himself. Still a valuable asset--- I mean player. Person. Valuable person.
