Why would Minnesota trade Kevin Love for Parsons, Lin, and a late first round pick?

Why would they do that? Surely they can get a better trade from another team than that...

I mean, the talks with GSW involved Thompson, Lee, Barnes, and picks. How is Parsons, Lin, and a late round pick even close?

more marketable players maybe? for a team like Minnesota that could be a factor.

I thought the report was Parsons, Jones, and the Pelicans 2015 late 1st round pick.

Low quality picks and I don't think many teams view Lee as a very positive asset or certainly not some long term replacement. Barnes may or may not be viewed as such a great asset either.

    Just my guess.

How is David Lee not a positive asset? And surely some other team could offer more in a trade than Houston..

They don't want Lee's salary (30 mill over next 2 seasons), and they want to unload Kevin Martin's salary. Lin is an expiring contract, and we would eat Martin's contract, while GS would not.

The gulf between Parsons and Thompson isn't nearly as wide as people around here would lead you to believe. Thompson is a better shooter, Parsons is a better playmaker and they are equally mediocre defensively.

Think of it this way, if the Rockets were offered 32 year old David Lee who hasn't been able to stay healthy in the last 4 years for Parsons or Jones would they do it? I think probably not.

We have all of our picks to offer plus the pelicans pick. If we bring the pelicans into it we have the option to also have them take Kevin Martin back for Aaron Gordon. Minny wants to dump Martin and has interest in Gordon. So essentially they would get young talent in Parsons, Jones, and other prospects plus picks and the ability to dump a contract they don't want.

Old, big contract, and many think that he is a stats guy that doesn't actually make your team better. I'm actually a fan of him and appreciates somebody who consistently puts out good stat lines, but not many people view him as an asset with high trade value.

Well I know it's been reported... I'm just trying to figure out why they don't have better offers. I mean, it's Kevin Love...

They wouldn't. Thank goodness that is likely not the deal we are offering.

Cuz Love is expiring and there aren't many places that would gamble on him re-signing there. Parsons/Jones/Llull/Capela/NOP+other picks for Love + trash isn't bad if they were willing to settle for Thompson + trash
