Saw this poster on the subway yesterday... HIV isn't enough to convince people to use condoms anymore?

It's not. It's actually produced by the City of New York.

The issue here is that HIV/AIDS isn't an automatic death sentence like it was was 30 years ago in the Western word. Most HIV/AIDS patients can live normal lives till old age with the anti-retroviral drug treatment available.

With cancer, not so much chance of living a normal life. I think it is an effective advertisement.

Also, HIV doesnt always = AIDS. AIDS is the very last stage of HIV when the number of lymphocytes is below a certain level.

You sure? I know those anti-abortion groups started putting up those black baby genocide billboards up in NYC. Could be some subversive propaganda campaign.

I wonder how much that guy was paid to be in that poster. I mean who the hell would want to be the face of an HIV add... especially with the word "anal cancer" in it?

Disingenuous but fair enough when you're fighting a losing battle.

Not to mention who would want to be the guy taking a picture of the anal cancer poster on the subway?

Maybe some gay person who has AIDS and wants to raise awareness? That never crossed your mind? Not once?

LOL - I was thinking the same thing when I saw these ads in the subway in NYC late last year.

Edit: they're probably gay. not like there's anything wrong with that.

If I had such an illness I wouldn't want the whole world to know. At least not a normal person would. Then again, what is normal?

Should have gone with penis cancer. That's WAY more scarier.

It's likely just stock photography. You can specify not to have your image used in certain types of ads, but if you don't...well...you end up on an AIDS / anal cancer poster.

People with HIV and who are taking HAART have the same life expectancy as a person without HIV. HIV has become a chronic disease.
