I realize the 2013 thread started after Thanksgiving. But... when it comes to the farm system, I'm always eager for a little discussion. Plus, my enthusiasm for the NFL has really dampened this year. Well, at least the Rockets are off to a nice start, right?

So, with that.... here are the Top 10 prospects in the Astros system, courtesy of Jason Parks of Baseball Prospectus.

    10. Michael Feliz
    9. Rio Ruiz
    8. Domingo Santana
    7. Lance McCullers
    6. Vince Velasquez
    5. Jonathan Singleton
    4. Mike Foltynewicz
    3. Mark Appel
    2. George Springer
    1. Carlos Correa

Notable Omission: Delino DeShields (I asked Jason Parks about whether DeShields would be his #11 prospect; he said yes, either him or Josh Hader)

On the Rise: Teoscar Hernandez, Reymin Guduan, Andrew Thurman

Guduan was included because Parks is "a sucker for southpaw velocity," which Guduan possesses in bunches. Remember this tweet?

    <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>Happy V-Day. Impressive arm... LHP Reymin Guduan. Was up to 97 in fall. <a href="http://t.co/ivTiCuBZ">pic.twitter.com/ivTiCuBZ</a></p>&mdash; Jeff Luhnow (@jluhnow) <a href="https://twitter.com/jluhnow/statuses/169439004968763393">February 14, 2012</a></blockquote>

Likely MLB contributors in 2014: Nick Tropeano, Max Stassi, Leo Heras

If you were wondering, Baseball America's top 10 comes out on January 20.

I think it was already implied that George Springer would be an MLB contributor.

Pumped to see what Michael Feliz can do. Guy seems to be a stud in the making.

Is Wojo left off of the potential 2013 contributors due to the assumption he will make the roster or because people think that he won't make it to the MLB level next year?

Hopefully Correa and Singleton can continue to improve. Singleton was on a roll for a while and then seemed to cool off.

He actually has Velasquez ahead of McCullers, I've began thinking of him right up there with the big 6 prospects, I wonder if scouts are also starting to feel that way.

So much talent and potential has been injected into the system, it's easy to lose track of some of these guys...what is Leo Heras' story?

Heras is a Mexican League import. He spent the last couple of weeks of the regular season with Corpus.

I think we actually may see some of these guys get traded if the right move can come about. Weird to think the farm can take a hit in a trade for the future and still be okay.

So far, 6 players have left the organization. WTHB is keeping a running tab of the offseason moves, so keep this post in mind.

By far, Bushue and Toney are the highest-profile players to leave the organization; as you know, Bushue was once a 2nd-round pick, and Toney only lasted 2 seasons in the organization after coming over as a PTBNL in the Humberto Quintero/Jason Bourgeois trade with the Royals.

    Retired

    RHP Tanner Bushue

    OF D'Andre Toney

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>In addition to the retirement of Tanner Bushue reported last month, D'Andre Toney has also been listed in the transactions as retiring.</p>&mdash; Jayne (@whattheheck57) <a href="https://twitter.com/whattheheck57/statuses/395994889525022720">October 31, 2013</a></blockquote>
    <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

    Released

2B Jean Carlos Cortorreal (last with DSL)
    OF Jarico Reynoso (DSL)
    C Cristian Moronta (Greeneville)
    OF/1B Mesac Laguna (GCL)

Singleton looks to be raking in the Puerto Rican League:

Jonathan Singleton, the Astros' No. 2 prospect, continued his power surge with a two-run home run during Santurce's five-run first inning. Singleton finished 3-for-5 with three RBIs and now leads the league with seven homers, three ahead of anyone else. Through 23 games, he also leads in slugging percentage (.622) and OPS (1.040)

Good to hear. Wish that came with an accompanying (current) picture of him.

He's hit at every level except the bigs. That's the only place that matters for him.
