This is slab city. Tough sell with the rail. I'd rather have my car and freedom. Democracy.

Freedom is to have rail AND a car. Now you have a choice.

You have the freedom to get a dwi. You have the freedom to be stuck in traffic for hours on end. The roads get crowded on even non peak hours. Katy freeway with its billion lanes always gets packed. Right now the speeds at certain parts of katy freeway are between 30-39 miles a hour.

Why not have both and have the freedom of choice? I can tell you from experience that it is an awesome benefit to those of us who use it in DFW. I'm not getting ready to sell my vehicles but I love using the rail system when I can.

If they can extend the Purple line to Hobby, and the Red line to IAH, then we have a structure very similar to Atlanta's MARTA, which despite its bad reputation for riffraff, is actually used by a lot of professionals to commute to work. I use it every time I fly to ATL. I don't think we're that far away.

i rode the new portion of the red line daily throughout last semester to UHD, and had the chance to ride the DART rail this weekend while in dallas on vacation.... it pains me to say DFW is crushing houston in the rail department.

what i think amazes me the most is that the rail lines pass through 5 or 6 cities and they still managed to get it built, while houston is just one city and can't get lines built.

I don't know why everyone just doesn't take the time to walk.

Well you see, it'll take me 20 miles to get to Downtown from my place.

    And with this weather?!

    Nobody got time for that.

Good to hear - we may take advantage of that since its like $35-$50 to take a cab to the airport.

Here's the DFW map - keep in mind that the far left side to the far right side is about 60 miles when comparing it to the Houston maps. The DFW light rail is far from perfect, but its a project thats coming along great. The larger the system grows, the easier it is for people to use it.

Does the Dallas rail stop at every stop that's 10ft away?

Riding the red line from med center to downtown takes 25+ mins. It's pathetic watching the rail go 20mph and then stopping at every station to pick up bums.

Mayor Bob built a streetcar, not a rail system. Because that's what his developer cronies wanted.

    miss me yet?

Houston rail is a joke.. if they really cared they would have spent more and made elevated tracks...

This crap just makes traffic worse LOL

Don't get the hate on Dallas. Pretty much the same city. Better in some aspects, worse on others

The only good thing about Dallas is that it has a ", Texas" after it. Other than that, it's pretty terrible.
