Why do you still have it?
When did you first wear it?
When did you last wear it?
    What is your T-Shirt Story?

If you still have a bankie (or just a small piece of it you carry around for comfort), please preface your answer with that whole story of your bankie, including how old you are right now.

Why won't your throw it away!!!

I have a Teddy Pendergrass tee that I wear from about 20 years ago, and Fabulous Thunderbirds tee (with "Get Yer Butt Rockin'" on the back) that I wear once a week that's nearly as old as me.

    I love old T-shirts.
I have about 5 or 6 old ones that I just won't throw away! My closet is full of about 30-40 nice T-shirts but I pretty much wear the same 5 or 6 T-shirts that are the most broken in.
My criteria for a good old T-shirt:

Size-Small, even though I should be a medium, T-shirts in small fit tight and let your arms breathe. They also make you look in better shape when your not!

Worn, I mean worn out. New T-shirts are all stiff. I swear it takes a good 3 years before a T-shirt is comfortable. Am i right or am i right?!

Stains. gotta have some ink stains, paint stains, pizza stains, whatever. Thats what makes them casual.

Funny message or pic. One of my favorite is the old Winston shirt I have, "Nobody does it better", yeah! My new favorite soon to be my old favorite is the "All your Base Belong to Us" shirt, size small of course.

Other than that, funny you brought up this subject. I really do dig my old T-shirts!:)

I have an old MHS '96 graduation T-shirt that I still wear to this day. It's held up remarkably well. For some reason, all my good college t-shirts (mostly fraternity based) are now frayed and stained (and thus have to be thrown out), but that damn MHS shirt keeps on ticking...

I have a old Rockets championship tee shirt that is about 2 sizes too small and a old "Rockin with Dokken" concert tee from oh about 1986. I refuse to part with them even though its been about 3 years since I could wear either one.

Sadly, I still have a bankie. I had my first one from the time I was an infant until I was seven, at which point I took it to a slumber party where it was lost. I cried for days so my parents gave me a small quilt my great-grandmother made. I wore that out be the time I was 10. At that point my parents bought a new green bankie for me and a pink one for my sister (who was three). I still have that bankie and sleep with it every night. Oddly, my sister still sleeps with hers also. I'm sure that doesn't speak well for the psychological health of my family. :)

As far as oldest t-shirt, I mentioned this one in another thread. I have a "Cedar Ridge Marching Cougars" shirt that I swiped from my high school in New Jersey when I was 14. It's green with mustard yellow letters. I love that shirt! I still wear it all the time.

Probably my U2 Zoo TV shirt from 1992.

Unfortunately, I've swelled so much that I can't really wear too much old stuff.

I have two about the same age:

    1976 Elect Carter-Mondale

    Cannabis green NORML logo T-shirt

I keep both around to remind myself how much I've matured since college.

All my best concert shirts have somehow disappeared.

I do have a Tripping Daisy T-shirt, circa about '91.

Just like putting a pan of double fudge brownies in front of me, I couldn't resist when I saw you ahead of me.

This is a tough question considering I buy all of my t-shirts from Goodwill, Salvation Army, Buffalo Exchange, or thrift stores.

I would have to say my Ski Steamboat! shirt circa 1979 (according to the TM) would be the oldest one.

I also have a Europe 3/4 concert T-shirt from 1987. I know Freak would be proud of me for that one..........

My favorite is my Eraser Head black t-shirt that I swear is so worn in it just might tear away if I ride my bike too fast. so, mr. oily, tiny, inexplicable holes are key to a great old t-shirt, aren't they? This has become special to be worn only on rare occassions, since its days are so numbered, that now I save it for cruising Westheimer Arts Fest for Numbers chics and other types of young, fertile, diseased monkeys, to see if I can get those babes with an attitude to blush like the school girls that they are.

    hmmmm,

nah, maybe I should just put that thing right back in the closet.

My pride and joy is the unauthorized Dr. Seuss/Sam Cassell "Sam I Am" Championship t-shirt. One person literally offered my $200 for that t-shirt fight off my back. He'd said he'd give me his shirt. lol

    David Lynch Eraser Head?

Easily the weirdest movie I've ever seen. Makes Naked Lunch look mainstream.

Wow. I have a Rolling Stones t-Shirt from '89 that I thought was old that is literally covered in little holes and rips. How can you still have a t-shirt from the 70s? Wow.

I was a Mardi Gras in the late 80s and out of money at about 4 am when this guy starting asking for my Joe Rock Head t-shirt with "Just ****ing relax" on the back. I really liked that t-shirt, so I gave him a $40 quote thinking to myself how ridiculous someone would have to be to pay that price, but to my astonishment he accepted immediately. I still thought he was joking and said 'let's see the green.' He immediately coughed up two twenties and there you go. It took me about twenty minutes to dispose of the twenties on those huge of balloons of laughing gas they've since outlawed, and I bet that b*stard is still wearing that shirt.
