I like smoked turkey the best, myself. It's more difficult, labor intensive, and time consuming than roasting or deep frying, but yield's the best flavor, IMO...

    You missed a couple:

Go to the parents / in-laws
    Take-out
However the wife chooses to cook it.

If you know how to smoke one, it is a great way to cook it... frying (especially cajun style) is great as well. Tough to choose, both are da shizzle.

I haven't yet tasted a fried turkey. Nor have I tasted a homemade smoked Turkey.

Hell, I have to fight my wife tooth-and-nail just to have any turkey at all.

I hate to derail my own thread, but I was just wondering...Why do these vegetarian food companies make their products look and sound like meat? My guess is that these companies are really run by meat eaters, or vegetarians have a subconsious desire to eat meat, but just don't want to admit it.

Come on Jeff, embrace your inner carnivore and have a nice chunk of a smoked turkey drumstick...you'll feel much better. :D

I never said I didn't like the taste of meat. A lot of vegetarians do. I just don't want to kill an animal to have that, nor do I want the health problems that often go with eating meat. :)

This is one thing that has seriously made me think about becoming a vegetarian. I have done some major reading on the things done to animals used to produce meat, milk, eggs, and other products for human consumption. The chemicals and hormones they are injected with and given is downright scary. I don't have a problem about the killing part (I hunt often) but the health problem part is what I am beginning to see and find out about.

BTW, I'll take my turkey fried. Had one smoked and friend last year for the first time and I'll take the fried one over smoked or roasted.

I have always wanted to try one of those too but a small one at Wal-Mart (and it is very small) cost about $20. It comes in a box smaller than an Eggo box.

    Roasting.

We had a homemade smoked turkey two years ago. My neighbor had his smoker up and running for the whole neighborhood if they wanted their turkeys smoked. It was fantastic. I no longer live near them, but if I had the smoker to do it, it would be my prefered method.

Ever thought about the amount of chemicals and hormones used to produce large crops of fruits and vegetables?

If it's health reasons you are worried about, you'll need to grow your own.

And if you're gonna grow your own veggies, might as well raise your own cattle or chickens and remain carnivorous.

I'm smoking my turkey this year...hormones and all.

If I could afford a competition-size smoker, smoked.

Faking it on my piece o'crap grill, just wouldn't do it justice.
