Decided to make a thread to discuss Carlos Rodon since he is very likely to be the 1st pick in the draft. Not a good start in his season debut.

He's done. 3 HBP and a wild pitch. <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p><a href="https://twitter.com/search?q=%23Woeck&src=hash">#Woeck</a> on to pitch the Canisius 7th. <a href="https://twitter.com/search?q=%23Rodon&src=hash">#Rodon</a> goes 6 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 6 K on 96 pitches</p>— NC State Baseball (@NCStateBaseball) <a href="https://twitter.com/NCStateBaseball/statuses/435137231657766912">February 16, 2014</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
Shaky from the beginning, but you have to like how he recovered. I was always a fan of the HBP stats. Shows that the pitcher like to work on the inner half.
A lot of pressure on this kid... if he succeeds, you know you have a possible gem as he will have shown the ability to handle the pressure of maintaining the #1 pick status. If he fails, his stock will surely drop.

Not bad after struggling in the 1st, even though it wasnt really his fault. Cant wait for his next start
He only had 16 last year, and I think it is safe to assume a better catcher in the pros can handle his pitching more. Having a slider like his and knowing it can hit the dirt must be tough to pick from time to time. I noticed that he had a pick off in the first inning of the game at third. I couldn't track down the stats on it last year, but is he known for having a decent pick off move?
Rodon is no longer a lock for 1.1!!! But seriously folks, let's not do this thread. This will just tend itself to people getting AR about a handful of bad starts, which are bound to happen. And God help us if one of those bad starts is against Rice ...
As I've said all along, I'm in favor of Rodon 1-1. But he's not as invincible as some on here would think.

It's Friday. But Carlos Rodon won't be on the mound today. Instead, he'll start on Saturday against UCLA in a game that is being held at Team USA's complex in Cary, North Carolina. First pitch is at 4:30 Eastern.
