Uh, who appointed the Miami Heat the gateway to Cuba?

I get that there are a lot of Cuban-Americans that live in South Florida but, I mean, what the hell does the Miami freaking Heat have to do with a change in U.S. foreign policy?

What a dumb thing for the Heat to get upset -- or "miffed," as Silver said -- about.

I am beyond confused. Why does the NBA need to consult the Miami Heat before going on a trip with the state Government..

The Heat wants to be important that bad....

Bummer for them that they will stay a borderline playoff team for couple of years

Dumbass Heat, apparently they haven't heard U.S. and Cuban heads of state have been in talks about normalizing (taking cuba off the terrorist list) and eventually ending embargo. Off-topic but what people don't realize is that a great deal of those Cubans in Miami are criminals that Fidel sent over there. Mothafuka opened all the jails and prisons and said GO! LOL

Don't mean to be political here, but I'm so glad we're opening relations with Cuba. I've always thought our Cuba policy was so stupid, they have not been a threat to us since the 60s. No more politics from me ok. :)

Yeah, I think it's a little late for us to launch another Bay of Pigs invasion, or to put a poison in Fidel's food that would make his beard fall out. ("'Cause he'd look pretty f***ing ridiculous without his beard, right? Right?" -- Joe Pesci as David Ferrie.)

The S.S. Vilify Cuba ship has sailed. Let it go.

You guys are overreacting. The heat probably wanted a representative from their team to be sent beacuse Cuba is a potential market.

Remember, Silver serves at the behest of the NBA owners.

I doubt it. It would be easy enough to just add somebody to the trip if that were the case.

My guess MIA is "miffed" because of the complaints from the Anti-Castro Cubans living in Miami. The team probably wants at least a heads up that this is happening to be prepared to respond to fan complaints.

True but i don't see how prior knowledge would have changed anything. If they would have released a statement, they can still do that. If they want to distance themselves from what the NBA is doing, they can do that too.

Also, can we stop saying miffed?

Ohhhhh yeah most definitely. Not all but some. I grew up in South Florida so I'm quite familiar.
