Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's new HBO series "Ballers" begins Sunday night. Johnson plays a former pro-football player who becomes a financial advisor for current athletes.
I was surprised to see real NFL logos and ESPN considering this show is going to highlight all that is wrong with pro football. I expect to see a Ray Rice storyline, concussions, etc. The show started off with a shot (no pun intended) at Steve McNair.
It was a meh first episode for me. Nothing to get really excited about. Was always a fan of The Rock tho was expecting more from him in this role to make me really like his character. Will keep watching for the fine ladies tho
The first episode was decent, the biggest surprise for me was the usage of actual NFL team names and logos. I was dreading an "Any Given Sunday" name and logo massacre.
I thought fit was decent. DVR fodder at worst, but I'll probably watch each episode before the next one airs.
Lots of potential here. I liked all the characters except Rob Cordry as the Rock's boss/partner. Not funny enough to be worth the annoyance. Hopefully he gets chokeslammed to death.
The Rock's acting looks better when compared to the plethora of crap that surrounds him. I just don't buy him as a sympathetic character. He needs to show more of a bad side. Is Rob Corrdry supposed to be funny? Did the other agent guy even have a pulse? You would think if a woman's husband just died tragically she might be a little more emotionally vulnerable. I mean wow, just blunder after blunder really. If I want to see t*** and horrible acting i'll stick to PornHub.
I disagree with this complaint. It was clear to me that their marriage was more one of payoff than love. I can see how in a relationship such as that the woman wouldn't be heartbroken - especially in the way he died.
And her big payoff didn't come which would clearly be upsetting. That girl's acting was as wooden as Pinocchio's dick.
Needed more: <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/bgtXrL6cAAs" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Rocket River
being a 30 minute show i expected more comedy They seem to be going for DRAMA and COMEDY and missing on both Rocket River
I think they are failing by trying to splice drama and comedy. Entourage worked because it was pure male fantasy p*rn. Unlimited p***y, booze, drugs, fame, fortune, best buddies, agents and publicists who doubled as comedians, minimal consequences for actions, ugly women do not exist, etc. This is like "Look, NFL life is tough, you have to **** bottle service girls in the bathroom and punch douchebag frat boys then beg your GM for your job the next morning".
