2007 NBA All-Star Balloting Second Returns Announced
Yao Ming Leads West with LeBron James Topping the East
    Posted Dec 28 2006 1:59PM

NEW YORK, Dec. 28, 2006 – Yao Ming of the Houston Rockets and Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers lead the Western Conference, while LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers and Dwyane Wade of the Miami Heat lead the Eastern Conference in votes received after the second returns of 2007 NBA All-Star Balloting presented by T-Mobile.

Through the 2007 NBA All-Star Balloting program, NBA fans from around the globe are responsible for voting in the starters for the 56th NBA All-Star Game, which will be played in Las Vegas on Sunday, Feb. 18. The game will air live on TNT, ESPN Radio and in more than 200 countries and territories worldwide.

Yao leads all players with 1,411,923 votes. The Minnesota Timberwolves’ Kevin Garnett leads all Western Conference forwards with 785,865 votes, followed by San Antonio’s Tim Duncan (715,916). Bryant (1,187,505) and the Houston Rockets’ Tracy McGrady (1,057,057) lead all Western Conference guards. Moving into third place among Western Conference guards is Allen Iverson, who was acquired by the Denver Nuggets from the Philadelphia 76ers on Dec. 19. Since Iverson was traded to a Western Conference team after the All-Star ballot was unveiled, his Eastern Conference votes will be applied to the conference in which he now plays.

James leads all Eastern Conference players with 1,323,989 votes, followed by Wade (983,321). The Toronto Raptors’ Chris Bosh (497,283) is second to James among Eastern Conference forwards. The New Jersey Nets’ Vince Carter (726,040) is second to Wade among Eastern Conference guards. Miami’s Shaquille O’Neal leads all Eastern Conference centers with 855,544 votes, followed by the Orlando Magic’s Dwight Howard (665,434).

Fans have the opportunity to vote at all NBA arenas, in 20 languages on NBA.com, on AOL.com/nba, at 1,250 T-Mobile-owned retail locations and at t-zones using T-Mobile service or wap.nba.com for any wireless carrier. Fans will be able to vote at several locations in Las Vegas, the host city of NBA All-Star 2007, including the Las Vegas Convention Center, Fremont Street and the Thomas & Mack Center. For the first time, 13 NBA team arenas will also carry a Spanish-language version of the ballot. T-Mobile is the presenting partner of 2007 NBA All-Star Balloting program. This year’s other All-Star Balloting partners include 2K Sports, AOL.com, XBOX, GameStop & EB Games.

NBA All-Star 2007 is a week-long celebration that enables fans to experience the thrill of the world’s greatest athletes playing the game they love and features a full slate of community-enhancing activities and fan festivals such as NBA All-Star Jam Session.

the man has not played like an allstar...true or false?

Omer, lol, have you seen him play this season? The man can't even elevate for shots like he used...so off the backboard dunks might be out of the question for him.

so then you would vote for V-Span if he was on the ballot? I personally like to be fair, I wouldn't think he deserves a spot; regardless of which team he plays for...

You know T-Mac's going to bring it at the All-Star game, no question. He'll throw some sick dunk down. If Yao was playing he'd drop a pretty dime for him to slam over Shaq.

What's Chris Bosh going to do? He certainly won't be windmilling it or throwing it down off the backboard. So what does that leave...Post up and drop in a turnaround? A hook shot? 15-footer? Wow! How exciting! I can barely wait.

ChrisBosh, you're an idiot if you're going to come onto a rockets fan forum and tell people to not vote for tracy mcgrady and expect people to actually listen to you.

Hey I want Tmac to make the All Stars as much as anyone but the guy does have a point. I mean if you're talkin reality there is no way he deserves to beat out Kobe and Nash. I mean if we are being honest. Still I am voting for Tmac and Nash cause I hate Kobe and I am a Rocket fan.

Performance on court is not important for the all star games.... Tmac is definately more entertaining than Nash and any other guards in the West. He should be on the all start game....

how so? he has lost a ton of explosion, can't throw it down like he used to, and bricks any and all outside shots at an alarming rate. frankly, unless he hooks into the juvenation machine sometime between now and the ASG, he's not going to make it more exciting. nash could throw some fancy passes and kobe does tons of exciting stuff as well.

and i don't see how anyone can think it's unfair for iverson to keep his votes. it would be way more unfair for him to have to start over at zero just b/c he got traded.

ai, kobe, and nash, aren't they all from the '96 draft? that would be a nasty backcourt. throw in kg, duncan, and dirk and the frontcourt doesn't suck much either.

also, anyone see battier 5th among west forwards? i assume that's the yao effect and one reason that, even though the internet and stadium voting are usually pretty similar, it's hard to argue yao doesn't get a huge boost in voting from the chinese contingent.

and finally, i'm surprised wade's votes are so low, well behind kobe and even more behind lebron.

Of course a fan could vote for VSPAN if he were on list and if the fan like him. Fans of every team do this, it's not a rare thing. AllStar is just a popularity contest, that's why at the end of the season media will elect 1st team/2nd team/3rd team, and these are really to pick the best players. These two are totally different stories. According to your theory, Yao should not have been an AllStar in his rockie season. Heck actually he was not selected even in the 3rd best team that year, while he was picked by fans as AllStar starter. But who cares and it's ok because AllStar is just a popularity contest. So if you are a TMac fan and a Rox fan, you should vote for him. If you are not his and Rox fan, then just please shut up and quit this forum.
