do yall think the rockets will pick up a backup sg. Only thing we really have is pike . We should go after sura or hoiberg. Im sure center and pg will be solved but i doubt we will get a back up SG.
Why do we need a backup SG? After McGrady's 38 minutes, there's only 10 left. Jackson can play some SG with Nachbar and Piatkowski at the 3.
I'd like to see a hybrid 1/2 that can D up and consistently hit his J......in the 6'3"-6'6" range. Daniels(among others) qualifies.
i think it would be better to get one incase tmac back acts up. I think he misses a couple games a season b/c of it. IT would be nice if we could get a solid backup for him.
We still have A. Griffin and Gaines is probably more of a SG than PG. Hoiberg would be awesome but I think he wants to saty up north. Jon Barry would bring some much needed energy off the bench if he can stay healthy.
TM will play 35+ we currently have JJ, Pike, Boki, Gaines and AG that can play that position and we need another bigman badly. why in the hell would we be looking for a backup 2? Priorities people.
ag and pike both sucked last season. Boki and gaines who knows. And JJ will alrady be loggin a lot of minutes again most likely. I know C and pg is first just saying it would be nice to have a better bench.
Ag and Pike were injured last season, Pike is automatic behind the arc when he's 100%, and according to Pike he's getting back to form. If that's true, he should be good next season.
AG and Pike were both coming off of injuries. Pike is a career shooter...shooting specialists dont just forget how to shoot....he will be better this year...he has to. Boki was getting better and btter in every appearance he put in late last year and should do much better this year. Gaines has skills....just ask anyone that saw him play in college...while that doesnt mean that he will do as well in the NBA....he has posssibilities... and considering how many minutes TM will be playing....Im reasonably sure that our 5 other players can adequately fill any time needed. and also......I keep hearing this BS about JJ....how do any of you KNOW FOR A FACT that JJ cant handle playing heavy minutes again this year? He appears to be in great shape...and contrary to popular belief, it is possible for a man in his early 30's to still have good stamina if he stays in shape....
Everyone keeps talking about T-Mac's back, but it wasn't his back that was injured. He had a leg injury that caused him to develop soreness in his back because he was favoring the leg. It is not a chronic or a serious back injury at all. I'm with Gater on this one. We have plenty of people to play the 2.
JJ can play at least 35 minutes a game. Boki will be able to handle 12 minutes. Plus 38 minutes for T-Mac. That leaves 11 minutes for Pike. Even in the worst year in his career Pike still managed 35% 3 point shooting. The bench isn't the bench mob but it's servicable at those 2 spots.
Although it MAY seem like a good idea at the beginning of the season, it'll affect him MASSIVELY at the end, near our playoff run and in the playoffs. Couple that in with the fact that Yao will probably have a drop in production at the same time...we do NOT want JJ to be logging 35+ minutes a night. I say 30 MAX.
Alright... how about Jon Barry? We probably could sign Jon Barry, Rodney White (SF) and Steven Hunter (C) all for our MLE. That'll give us alot of depth on our roster. Yeah, I know... the PG spot would be still pretty weak, but we would still have our TE and a PF for negotiations. PG Lue/Gaines SG T-Mac/JBarry/EP SF JJ/RWhite/SPadgett/AGriffin PF JHoward/MTaylor/Spoon C Yao/Hunter.
Actually I was giving JJ relaxation at 35 minutes a game. JJackson is a workhorse. He averaged 39 minutes last season. More in the playoffs at 44 mpg while grabbing 10.4 rebs a game! With such stamina, I wonder why there was even a dispute between him and Jason Kidd over Toni Braxton.
Funny you started a thread about this cause I thought about this earlier today. I think we may have enough wing players, but could shuffle them around. IMO, I think we should trade Pike to a team with a defensive minded guard. Pike is a valueable commodity to struggling teams, and in our case never really got off the bench much last season. Artest oviously comes to mind, but wouldn't happen for reasons on both sides. Those who do: Chris Jefferies 6-8 (poor mans Artest) Chi. needs pure shooters Eric Williams 6-8 (same as above) S&T with Clev. a possibillity Linton Johnson 6-8 (not really proven, but shows potential) Doug Christie 6-7 (baggage) Not a very impressive list, but we will need a wing player that can play D besides TMac in certain games. JJ is too slow, as is Pike. Boki has the tools, just don't know if this will be his season. Gaines never even got off the bench in Orl.
I wouldn't be opposed to bringing in Jon Barry. He can log a solid 18mpg at either guard position and is one of the best energy guys in the league. He knocks down open threes and is a crafty passer. Let's solve the starting PG and backup C first, though. Backup 2 shouldn't be our first priority right now.
Well, he might not have a job. Aren't they trying to sign Trenton Hassell. So at SG, they would have V. Leonard and T. Hassell.
I know that he doesn't want to move his family again, but what guaruntees are there that Denver will even resign him?
