My school is participating in a "Walk Across Texas" wellness event. The object is to gather an 8 person team and log enough miles over 8 weeks to cover the distance across texas....about 800 miles. Have any CF'ers heard of this or participating?
This is dumb unless you're actually walking across Texas for real. I better be seeing a bunch of kids out there in 100 degree heat between Austin and El Paso.
I'll take that as a "no" It's a wellness program. You can convert any activity to miles with the activity conversion calculator.
that's impossible. each person walks 800 miles in 8 weeks...or combined? someone is going to have really bad foot blisters, sores, and chafing. no running allowed? i'm out. i can do about 40 miles a week...but not 100 a week. i have to work as well...so i'll need a ride ride to and fro, bro.
As a team walk 800 miles...any activity is counted. There is a converter on the website that converts activity to equivalent steps. Running, steps, and cycling count as actual miles. There is a calculater for swimming, kayaking, yard work...and many others.
Just get them all fibit's and have them shake 'em while they watch TV. It works. After a 1 hour show it will show like 10,000 steps.
