Having a good game doesn't disqualify you from having a valid opinion of the field.

You seem to be finding reasons to invalidate any player or coach who says anything negative about the turf. Just wondering why that is.

I'm just saying that there seems to be more people complaining about the field this year after the Clowney incident... when its the exact same field/system that's been in place since 2002.

On annual player surveys, the Reliant/NRG field has never been in the bottom 5 of "worst fields" in the league.

If the players/coaches all felt it was a severe problem, and they wanted to go ahead and make a change... they would have made a change (having the one-time cost field turf... tends to be more cost effective than having an employed grounds crew that is constantly growing/rotating/replacing pallets throughout every season).

After reading the petition I really can't imagine a compelling defense being presented. The evidence is substantial. It will be interesting, but I think the Texans are going to lose this one.

It's not the Texans that are being sued...it's Harris County. So, it's really WE lose.

Knee injuries are unfortunately not uncommon for professional football players. Such injuries, however, are extremely rare for punters, and even rarer during plays where there is no physical contact. Nevertheless, Hartmann suffered his devastating knee injury not at the hands of an opposing player or an unfortunate collision, but because his foot became caught in one of the countless seams which blanket the grass turf of Reliant Stadium. Coach Gary Kubiak was quoted after the game as stating he understood that Hartmann's foot was caught in a seam. Video of the injury conclusively shows this to be correct. Furthermore, Hartmann has testified that, as he was jogging downfield to cover his punt, his foot became “stuck” in one of the many seams in the field formed by the Defendants’ modular grass tray system. As he turned to track the movement of the punt returner, his foot was held in one direction by the seam and his knee went With his foot wedged into the seam and his knee wrenching in the opposite direction, bones shattered and ligaments tore in Hartmann’s left leg, sending him sprawling to the turf.

I guess NRG Stadium is now looking for a new Field Grounds Manager

Sports and Field Grounds Manager – SMG Reliant Park
SMG World - Houston, TX
Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Coordinate and oversee field maintenance of practice fields and stadium field to include mowing, fertilizing and cultivating the stadium and Houston practice fields.
Install/removal of the natural grass playing field for all NFL games as well as other special events that come through the stadium. I.e. exhibits and soccer matches.
Coordinate and oversee the install/removal and maintenance of synthetic turf for High school and college games.
Coordinate the maintenance of the Houston Texans indoor practice facility synthetic field.
Supervise a grounds crew which includes interviewing, hiring, training and maintaining employment records.
Purchase and maintain the field maintenance equipment and supplies, and keep records of all maintenance and repairs. Supervise the departmental budget.
Maintain irrigation system (replace sprinkler heads, adjust distribution, inspect moisture content).
Supervise in the planting and care of shrubs, flowers, trees and grass.
Uses hand tools and equipment or light powered hand tools.
Supervise subcontracted grounds keeping employees.
Work extended and/or irregular hours including nights, weekends and holidays, as needed.

Qualifications Position requires ability to:

Perform manual labor for extended periods, often under unfavorable weather conditions.
Demonstrate ability to carry out tasks in a reliable, productive and expedient manner and be able to adhere to strict deadlines.
Maintain an effective working relationship with clients, employees, exhibitors, patrons and others encountered in the course of employment.
Experience in metal fabrication preferred.
Ensuring and following safety measures and regulations for forklift operation.
Remain flexible and adjust to situations as they occur.
Follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively with others in both oral and written form.

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university and five (5) years related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Possess and maintain a current, valid Texas driver’s license, and self-report any convictions. Must obtain Texas Pesticide Applicators license within 180 days of employment. Preferred: Three (3) years of experience operating a forklift.
