I'm excited to see where the form factors take us. I use Windows 8 on my home gaming desktop (dual screen), my traditional work laptop and my Surface. I love each device and I treat each one differently, and Windows 8 adapts perfectly across them.

I really think the hybrid devices like the touch screen ultrabooks or the tablets with built-keyboards are the future. I love using my Surface with the Touch Cover where I'll keep my left hand on the screen (just the thumb really, with the four fingers behind the screen) and the right hand on the keyboard/trackpad. It becomes very natural.

The Vaio convertible has an awful keyboard. Way to small to type with and no touchpad. About the only place it may be comfortable to use is the plane.

The Lenovo full convertible is a great concept, but even though the keyboard is disabled when flipped, it's very awkward and not terribly comfortable to hold.

Asus sure has some interesting dockable tablets, but the most interesting device (not seen in the video) may be the Samsung Ativ (full Windows 8). It's just kind of odd that it's nearly identical (in looks) to their Android devices.

Biggest problem I have with all of these different convertibles is that they all retract or twist or flip or detach differently -- and surely many a person will inadvertently destroy one.

What about this is supposed to be a surprise? A bunch of stuff that looks inferior design-wise to the Surface? I've already forgotten if they mention any exciting specs beyond screen res

I can't believe you made me sit 4:20 to see that the Rockets bit was about Harden struggling against OKC.

The surprise was an article featuring the Rockets and Harden at the end :p

The beauty of Windows 8 is the eclectic array of devices. I love my Surface, but I certainly won't say it is the right device for everyone. The ASUS UltraBook, Samsung Series 9 and the Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga are fantastic devices and the Lenovo ThinkPad 2 and Acer Iconia W700 tablets are nice.

There are tons of great Windows 8 devices out there for just about every consumer.

I bought my wife a lenovo Yoga. Its an awesome device. I would trade my macbook pro for it any day. I'm deciding on either the surface pro or waiting waiting for the lenovo Yoga 11s to come out.

The Surface is really intriguing to me as it has a desktop mode. While I'm sure you can do some basic photo editing in Metro mode, is there any photo editing app that you can run in desktop mode for RT?

Not on RT, no. The only apps for classic desktop on RT are Office, IE and then built-in Windows apps like Notepad, Wordpad and Paint. Some additional apps "may" come in the future, but a Pro tablet would be a better option if that's something you're looking forward to. The Surface Pro comes out in a few weeks, which runs any apps.
