I was watching part of "Beverly Hills Cop" on my lunch break and then I flipped over and "Back to the Future III" was on. I consider Cop and the first BTTF to be classics during the 80s decade but it got me to thinking what other films have been released since my birth that can now be considered classics as well. I know there are plenty of them and I have only named two and some of you may disagree with my selections of these two as definite classics but that is why I am asking what films you would put in the mix. Post your picks.
Coming to America and Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom are two of my favorites. I'll name some more later. I'm a big fan of most of Eddie Murphy's movies from the 80's.
Scarface Coming to America Trading Places Dead Poets Society The Princess Bride Schindler's List Good Will Hunting Life is Beautiful Philadelphia E.T. Raiders of the Lost Ark Jean de Florette Cinema Paradiso Once Upon a Time in America Goodfellas Casino Godfather III The Emperor and the Assassin i'm prob missing a bunch...
damn you just reminded me of the only movie that has even more classic quotes...."Wall Street"......and both movies were written by Oliver Stone of course
Lucas - that corey haim movie - classic flick where nerd gets picked on but wins everyones respect by trying out and getting maimed on the football field.
Also, Transformers the movie (1984). A child's first introduction to death and loss - heroes that you idolized as a child are all murdered in a graphic opening scene to make way for a new line of toys. Classic.
Rounders every poker player should see this movie. sure, it's a little over the top but extremely entertaining and definitely quotable. "Women are the rake...they are the ****in' rake."
That's a film that has actually become a classic through whatever means. I believe when it was initially released it was negatively received by most critics. "This town is like one big pu$$y, just waiting to get f***ed."
Lost in America Goodfellas Short Cuts Natural Born Killers The Shining Full Metal Jacket Eyes Wide Shut The Falcon and the Snowman Modern Romance Reservoir Dogs JFK Bachelor Party Millers Crossing Blood Simple Halloween Raging Bull The Unforgiven Sex,Lies and Videotape The Breakfast Club Better Off Dead Sixteen Candles Schindler's List Do The Right Thing Crimes and Misdemeanors Just off the top of my head
