That was the greatest concert I've ever seen!! <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/9XoAh27dY2M" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
I was there. I've listened to the Cure since the early 80's. Dig what Robert Smith has done and appreciate the longevity. Greatest band? Nah. Definitely carved out a unique sound. If people judge them by their radio play, don't. Give the band a much deeper listen. I tried to post some video I took of the show, but I'm having issues. I'll try to figure it out.
I can't believe The Cure are still so popular -- they started in 1976 -- their first compilation album is how I got into them and that was 1986. Did they release a new album or is this like a 40th anniversary tour?
When I listen to their music I can tell its from another era, but it doesn't feel so old. It meshes pretty well with the taste of today, I can't say with certainty but their music has a lot of the experimental vibe that I get from tool, nin etc. Not saying the bands are similar, just that they age well in this era.
Their music is EXTREMELY hard to play. That's why sometimes over the years I have heard they are not that good live. It's because they can't even play some of their songs that well on occasion. They are a great/unique band in my humble opinion.
Oh I disagree with them not being good live. I've seen them upwards of ten times and they've been fantastic every time. This show was no different, it did not disappoint. At 57 Robert Smith still has it for sure.
