Malik Jefferson enrolled a semester early last year and I think it was a huge reason why he played so well. It's like getting half a redshirt freshman starting the season. Early enrollees making a big splash at Texas this spring http://texas.247sports.com/Article/...lees-making-moves-in-spring-practice-44751465 Texas WR Johnson has made a big impression in his spring debut http://texas.247sports.com/Bolt/Tex...a-big-impression-in-his-spring-debut-44741058
UT Spring game was today. Only played one half due to rain but some key takeaways: - Buechele needs to bulk up this summer and be ready to start versus ND. He is the best QB on the roster and it's not even close. - Whoever the QB is, they're gonna get a ton of help from Warren and Foreman. The running game has a chance to be really really good IMO. - Love our DBs. They may take some shots and lose a few here and there but each can be a playmaker on their own.
Warren could be a star and make things a lot easier for whatever QB we get. Too bad we had to burn his redshirt. It's a shame we couldn't see Heard this spring. Shane's completion percentage was awful but everything else looks promising. Can't get greedy with a kid that probably just turned 18. You can build a lot of muscle in 4 months.
The WRs did not have a particularly good day IMO. There were a lot of dropped passes, a lot of them right in the hands or numbers. Also thought the DBs played really well, a lot of PBUs on their part.

Just rewatched the game and a few more takeaways: - Swoopes had a sure TD pass dropped by Burt. Also one of the INTs would have been called incomplete so probably a 1 TD-1 INT game for him. - Interesting graphic that Beuchele was snapping the ball 3 seconds faster than Swoopes on avg. That is pretty significant given have fast Gilbert wants the offense to run. - Swoopes still has issues staring down his first read. Makes it easy for DBs to read and make a play. Even if complete, zero chance for any YAC in a lot of short passes. Big reason for 3 and outs. Any 2nd reads are too late or off the mark. Not even sure he is making a 3rd read. - Think the Texas pass rush will be much improved this season. Charles O and Hager had a few sacks despite playing a very vanilla defense. Don't think we rushed any of the LBs which will be big for us. - Special teams (FG) is going to be a problem. No big legs on the team and accuracy from close is not good. Kicking game cost us 2 games last season and based on practice reports and yesterday, looks like it will be worse. Full game for those who missed it: http://youtu.be/gDe41tmgxrc
Awesome recap. Sounds like we are headed to the 18 wheeler package with Swoops and some combination of Beuchele and Heard. We'll see what happens in the summer.

This should be in the A&M thread but I'm responding to your post. Might be going to Oregon. The story is kind of bizarre and I'll leave it at that.
Ya. Also had a 4* WR decommit and 5* target eliminate them shortly after due to tweets from A&M WR coach. Apparently UT is one of his frontrunners now so something related at least.
UT released their new plan for athletic facilities. Football Stadium North Endzone reconstruction and general stadium facility upgrade is no surprise, they're also looking to an two additional outdoor fields and an indoor field as well as a slew of other facilities for the olympic sports. The plan for a replacement to the Erwin Center has it being built next to the football stadium and could be between 12,000-17,000 people. It'll likely be tied to if the city contributes to the cost of the arena so it can host the same type of events that the Erwin Center hosts. The Erwin center needs to be torn down so the new Medical School complex can be expanded. It'll also move the basketball arena more on campus which will help with attendance. I think UT would be perfectly fine with building an intimate 12,000 seat arena if the city doesn't want to help pay for it. That'll still make it the biggest arena in the Austin Metro area but not too well suited by major concerts and events. That entire area is subject to the capital view corridor restrictions so it'll be tricky building anything there. A large arena will likely have to be half underground like Toyota Center in Houston. I believe the 10 year plan was to put it where the austin american statesman is right now across the lake from downtown next to the light rail line. That got booted when the light rail plan failed. "South Central Waterfront" Stop
Why not just build the medical center where the new sports facility is going to be? I don't get why they need to waste money by tearing down the Erwin center and moving it somewhere a couple of blocks away. It makes no sense to me at all.
