I am a frustrated fantasy owner

The Raptors don't give him nearly enough minutes and touches.

He has great range/touch, footwork, and athleticism yet they choose to play small ball. He is a really solid bigman on both ends.

If the Raptors are talking about being a playoff contender, then why isn't coach Dwane Casey getting his best lowpost threat major reps during the regular season?

When his usage is high, he shows me that he can be a top center in the league.

He needs to be getting 32mpg at least.. right now hes around 26-27 with minimal touches and shot attempts.

get this man the rock! I think his ceiling is to be a 20-10-2 center with great ft% .. he can be one of the featured players in an offense. Too bad the raptors don't have the coaching to do put him to use

You pretty much summed it up. Valanciunas would be a beast but Coach Casey is a moron.

No way.. JV is capable of power moves in the post where DMo tries one too many fakes and throws up a strange hook or scoop

Solid fundamental big who is underutilized

The Raptors are playing way above expectations and you're criticizing their coach? They have an identical record to the Rockets right now. Seems like their rotation is working just fine.

Yes.. I think they should get their best big involved in the offense better

Just bc their European with strange names?

Lol their skillset and approach to the game is completely different. JV wants to play like a true center and hammer on guys.. and of course he has good touch on hooks and out to 15 feet as well but that part of his game is secondary

your first sentence explains everything. Toronto is 6-1. they're not complaining lol and definitely not worried about people's fantasy stats

You're attempting to avoid the discussion..

Which I stated further down in the post..

To be a playoff contender they need to give their potentially dominant bigman 12-15 fga and 35mpg

Smallball will work now but in the playoffs the whole game changes.. JV can get them over the hump

ok well then he's not a 20 and 10 player definitely. seems like people throw that around these days like its easy. players may have a game here and there but to average that in a season is extremely difficult. that said i would say his ceiling is about a 15 and 8 player. somewhere in this range, probably a little less rather then over.

yeah you're right about the 20ppg but what makes it possible with him is that he's a great ft shooter.

10rpg should be possible as well.. he has a great motor, length, and athleticism

toronto has 2 star perimeter players in lowry and derozan and that's what the bulk of their offense is feeding off of. he'll get his opportunities but not enough to make him a 20 and 10 player.

JV is very good. I think his realistic ceiling is similar to Gortat or Nikola Peklovic. Both are very good, very serviceable centers. He could still become better than both of them, only time will tell.

When he played over 30 minutes last year he averaged 15 & 10, which is really solid for a 22 year old center. He'll gradually get better and could even get to 20 & 12 when he's mid to late 20s. Long term prospects are really nice for JV.

Almost none of that was from being fed in the post. It was a lot of second chance points and drive and dishes by Derozan and Lowry.

I definitely think he'll be a 15-18 and 10 guy in his career but not right now. He is only 22 after all, he has a long time before he hits his prime.
