I just got back from winning a Texas Hold 'Em Tournament! I've played twice in my whole life, and somehow I lasted the whole six hours we played to win all the chips. It was $20 flat buy-in, and amazingly, I outlasted everyone to win. The final table, I lost or folded in about 50 of the 60 or so hands we played, but I lucked out at the very end and took out the other two competitors in the last three hands. Play of the day - to get to the final table, I went all in with FOUR ACES! Why couldn't that have happened to me in Vegas? Anyhow, just thought I'd share my excitement! I don't know how those guys who play for a whole day do it. I'm exhausted.
Congrats. Way to sit and wait for your spot. There's nothing more exciting then seeing a pocket pair flop that matches your pocket pair in the hole.
WOW! 6 hours for only $250! With first place only taking $250 there must have been around 20-25 people (asssuming more then 1st was paid)? Man 6 hours is a long time for only 20 people or so. Must have been some VERY TIGHT play. But congrats on the winnings and if you are ever looking for some other games around Houston just send me an e-mail through the board and I'll get you hooked up. But you can find them just as easy on www.pokercampus.com I play in a few tournaments that advertise on that site and they are very well run.
There were 16 of us - 20 to 3rd, 50 to 2nd, 1st gets the rest. I went and spent the money already . . . digital camera I got $100 from a 2 hour side job the day before, so the way I figure it is it's like a free digital camera. I probably should be more responsible with the money, but eh, I was gonna buy a camera soon, and this was a very nice deal ($50 rebate plus $34 gift card). I'm thinking that maybe I'll never play again. I'll never do this well again, so I should just quit while I'm ahead . . . "I CHOOSE NOT TO RUN!"
I went to New Orleans Monday night to get some airmiles and went to Harrahs Casino. I played at the $10 & $20 table, and was worried that I might not do well. A lot of the people there are regulars, and play every day...but after about 20 minutes, and no cards, I started to play fairly well. I played tight, only bluffed a few times, and won $1200..... And I got my airmiles, and my wife was not mad that I went anymore because I won money. WOOOHOO !! DD
No idea. More evidence that it was FREAK LUCK behind my victory, certainly not my skill. Congrats DaDakota!
