I worked at my old college town record store all through college and beyond and have several hundred vinyl LPs. Primarily mid to late 70's and 80's as well as older stuff and imports (when imports were of superior quality). I also have a ton of old promotional albums of many unknown bands that never made it.

I have several hundred, all bought from about '73-'83. I don't have a turntable anymore, so I have them all boxed up in a closet. I do pull them out and look at them every five years or so.

My vinyl collection has grown substantially in the last two years. It grew from 12 to almost 400.

I buy quite a few records online. Mostly Heavy metal and progressive rock.

    Most or all of:

    Opeth
    Meshuggah
    Metallica
    Pink Floyd
    Led Zeppelin
    Between the Buried and Me
    Steven Wilson
    Porcupine Tree
    Clutch
    Iron Maiden
    Tool
    Devin Townsend
    Black Sabbath
    Motorhead
    Queensryche
    Symphony X
    Dream Theater
    Yes (early albums)
    King Crimson
    Radiohead
    Godspeed You! Black Emperor
    Judas Priest
    Rush

And quite a few more artists that I have 1-3 of their albums.

This is probably the best album that I ever owned in my collection.

I went digital a long time ago. I haven't used a turntable in the last 25 years. Everything that I have on vinyl, I also have in digital. Vinyl is not some new novelty to me, so I'm not that interested in going to the trouble of playing an LP on a turntable. Been there, done that for many years.

I really don't need to keep all those old records, but I suppose I have a sentimental attachment to them. At this point I enjoy just looking at the album covers and art work more than actually playing the record. When It comes to listening, I just opt for what's easiest.

Friend, there is just no earthly excuse to own any Queensryche, unless it is as a joke or to clear out your house of unwanted guests. And other than urgent party-ending, there is definitely not a non-emergency excuse for listening to them. Heaven forbid you ever see them live, as I once did. :(

Really strange that you chose to pick on Queensryche out of all the artists on that list. Seems like there's something personal going on there. Party-wise, Queensryche would definitely be near the top of the list out of all the groups named in that post. Yeah, I'm definitely sensing something personal in your response. What happened?

LOL, I have Sea Change on SACD and 180g. The SACD kills vinyl for sound quality.

Obviously it's gonna depend on the quality of the vinyl. Never heard of "Sea Change" though, so I'll be egotistical and assume it's from a smaller record company. :p
