Often saw him at his store in the 4-5 times a year I'd visit. Tough call between Amy's and Hank's for best Ice Cream (depends on what I want) in H-Town, but in either case will drive across town for their ice cream.
Dang............whenever I was on that side of town, I always tried to slip by for some banana pudding.
I knew Hank for 10 years. Visited his shop as often as my waistline would allow. Best Butter Pecan on the planet. You should also try his flavor called "Grape Nuts"...pulverized Grape Nuts cereal swirled into French Vanilla. One time I took my 77 year old Mom there. When she ordered Rum Raisin, he asked her for her ID. :grin: Great Houston success story, and my favorite ice cream in town. Rest in peace, Hank.
I just found out about this ice cream place two weeks ago. Damn good. Nice people that own the place too. RIP Hank.
Learned about this place many years ago on CF when RMT posted about it. Thanks RMT. I remember one time I discovered I had forgot my wallet after he had served me and my kids. He laughed and said don't worry, pay me next time. I did, with a nice tip for interest . Condolences to a real nice family - Hank was good people.
