I know it doesn't automatically mean he'll transition to head coach (more like some kind of assistant), but come on....

This is the same Ron Artest that ran into the stands and punched a guy, admitted to drinking whiskey in the locker room, elbowed JHarden, etc. etc.

I really hope this happens

Has there ever been a coach(assistant or HC) that has gotten into a physical altercation with their players?

If that hasn't happened, I'm willing to put down a $10 future bet MWP the coach will be first..

The Kings have to hire him to be an assistant under Karl. Please, basketball gods, make this happen!

P.J. Carlesimo violently attacked Latrell Sprewell, who was just trying to feed his kids.

he would be a great addition to the coaching staff of any team. i would take him on the rockets to orchestrate the defense.

Probably happened all the time in the 1970's and earlier.

Really a silly idea to cut Jabari Brown instead of Artest.

I think he turned a corner in his life. I wonder how he will handle players as a coach of any type.

    LMAO

Sprewell's hands are very useful. He can feed his kids, choke his coach, and play basketball at the same time.

Artest seems like a team player who wouldn't fight his own teamates/players.

But I am definitely willing to bet a large sum that he will be the first coach, to run off the bench to attack the opposing teams players/coaches.

It's already happened before at all levels of the game. It will just be funny seeing World Peace irate. The NBA has the most inconsistent officiating of all the major league sports and as a coach Word Peace will be tested through and through. LOL

He wore pandas on the side of his shoes, how did they allow that? Looks dangerous to me. Metta playing mind games, that panda might look sweet, but he's actually quite dangerous. Well played Ron!

They cut a really good young guard in Jabari Brown who scored 30 in a game last yr with the Lakers.

I don't see why Artest wouldn't be successful as an assistant coach. He had some turmoil in his career, but he also matured a lot since. He's a guy young players would have an easy time identifying with and respecting. And he's a shrewd player who generally played smart save for the occasional emotional outburst. I expect he'd have a tough time trying to jump to head coach, but I think he'd do well as an assistant. Besides it's not like current player-turned-coaches don't have a history of on-court violence. McHale famously clotheslined Kurt Rambis and nobody says that makes him unqualified (they cite other things instead).
