    From Frank Isola.

I actually like Frank as he's pretty funny, and knowledgeable about the game from a reporter perspective, but I can't recall the last time the guy broke news of any relevance other than minor Knicks stuff.

That being said, Dwight to the Celtics does sort of make sense, but its Ainge... he's not giving up much to get him. He's certainly not giving up Crowder, Smart, Brooklyn picks, etc. Ainge is looking to "STEAL" Dwight if he is talking to Morey about getting him.

In that case, Morey is probably likely to just hold onto him until the Summer, and will opt to try and get him back in FA on a discounted contract.

The article even says Boston shouldn't offer much in assets. I'm guessing if there are any legs to this story it was just a phone call or two by Ainge to his buddy Morey doing his due diligence.

Meanwhile, the Celtics have engaged the Houston Rockets in talks about a possible deal for Dwight Howard, the Daily News has learned. Howard can opt out of his contract this summer, and considering his back and knee issues, it doesn’t make much sense for Boston GM Danny Ainge to use the assets on a player with declining skills and a battered body.

Anything less than Isiah and Brooklyns first round pick is worthless for us.

On the surface it reads like the classic... "Look at me... I'm have inside knowledge about a trade... but it probably won't happen so don't judge me negatively if it DOESN'T happen" report.

Isola usually doesn't get caught up in the fake insider game, but that's how it reads. That being said Isola does do a show daily with Jackie MacMullen who actually does have ties to the Celtics... so there might be something there, but the report itself is the classic "I got insider info, but don't expect this deal to happen" noise we hear all the time from the guys who just want attention.

    Talk does not mean anything.

To make a DHo deal realistically Dwight would have to indicate willingness to reup.

This would be funny, though zero chance of happening. Morey would try to screw over Ainge, and Ainge would try to screw over Morey, and neither would bite.

Interesting, but I feel like Boston would be better suited going after someone like Horford in free agency instead of trading for Dwight and his huge cap hit. Unless Ainge is looking to flip Dwight immediately afterwards.

If this were true I'm assuming we'd be taking back David Lee, maybe picks or other young players. I wouldn't mind Olynk and Smart.

I don't remember the last time the Celtics signed a huge free agent, but idk if players really care about markets anymore. Maybe cyberx could answer that for me? Monroe signed with the Bucks instead of the Knicks is one recent example.

Hereford said that he wants to go somewhere with a large spanish speaking population. Boston is predominantly cac so that's not going to work. Howard is their B option

the PERFECT fit for dwight. He can be the man on one of the top defensive teams in the league and he would have to shoulder the burden on defense. Morey needs to get 2 of those nets picks if possible.

I think that you are going to hear a lot of rumors surrounding the Rockets and Dwight Howard in particular.

The Rockets I am sure are not exactly sure "where they go from here". The cap is increasing, but that doesn't mean that a big name free agent will want to come to Houston. The Rockets have to decide whether they want Howard back and at how much, and Howard likewise has to decide what he wants to do.

Really everyone on the roster is possibly movable other than Harden. DMO has had back issues that cloud his market value, and leave the Rockets unsure what to do with him. Jones is gone at the end of the year, but do they deal him? Josh Smith is a good fit, but he already left once. Ariza has some value, has a good contract.... but do the Rockets pursue someone like Gallinari..... and if he is even possible, is it as a 3 or 4? Do the Rockets spend money on a free agent like Ryan Anderson? Does that even make a difference against the Warriors and Spurs?

Hell, who is coaching the Rockets next year?

There is a level of uncertainty hanging over this team that hasn't been seen in years.
