Great move..... hopefully James can handle it.

We saw how he did McHale after his Game 6 benching.

He was cheering for the team, not McHale. He looked awkward too.

Actually, McHale has done it. I can't remember exactly when it was, but I think it was early in the third quarter one time.

He definitely wasn't biding his time for being focused to win.

Ballsy move, but JBB has nothing to lose. He's either going to risk getting fired for pissing off players or definitely get fired for having a team loafing around and getting beaten down by the lowly Suns.

Rome wasn't built in a day and JBB is still figuring things out obviously. I liked this move along with our downward trending turnovers (obviously last night it was an issue again). I realize a lot of folks expect immediate results but if we can get DMo back to where he was last season along with a good trade deadline we can become darkhorse contenders.

I think JB was worried JH was going to cause a scene. That would have been horrible for their relationship and the team. Harden needed to just sit down. Team just had a crappy start to the game, you turned the ball over just seconds ago, and you want to ask why you're getting sub'ed out like there was not good reason?

    Read the thread lol

LOL, You guys are ridiculous at times. Harden's not perfect but the way you guys paint him at times it's a wonder you can even stand being Rockets fans. Harden probably caused the Flint water crisis too that makes about as much sense as some of the statements in this thread.

Oh really? He was cheering for the team and not McHale? Shocking development.

I think JBB has to do this - even if he doesn't get the full time job, he has to show future places that he is willing to bench guys that are lolligagging.

Harden was going through the motions and got benched, great job JBB.

Then he put him back in and it was noticeably different. If that is what it takes...so be it.

JB is growing as a coach before our eyes. I'm cautiously optimistic toward the trend of the team but they still have a long way to go. JB is starting to figure out though that if he is to ever hope to get a long term coaching gig, here or elsewhere, he needs to do what he thinks is best for the team as a whole, even if players don't like it at the time.

I'm not sure how far this team can/will go, but we're not going anywhere if JB loses the respect of the players. I have no doubt the vets respected that move. Good omen for how JB will handle things going forward.

My respect for Bickerstaff has just grown a bit. And yeah, he did look super nervous, but at least he had the balls to do it.

JB has been making tough decisions for a while now...nothing new..but when they don't work out "he doesn't know what he's doing" and when they do "he must be learning"...he's highly experienced and always knows what he's doing, but like with most coaches, not all decisions will work out. He's just in a tough situation because time is running out and he's got to get the team back to a high seed.

It is not that, it is that he had the stones to bench our superstar player who was not playing hard......that is what this team needs, especially Harden.

Can't be entitled, the other team doesn't care who you are, they are just going to play hard.

We have to get the Rockets to do that night in and night out too.

He showed signs of being upset because he wasn't smiling during those awkward claps or while sitting on the bench.

Point was, Harden's awkward claps doesn't mean he wasn't upset with McHale.

Not shocking you would miss that

Harden should be upset. But you go home. You settle down. You man up, come back, and tell the coach you will do what coach wants. And that you bring it from here on both ends. Otherwise you mope and u become a poison. The decision is simple. Life is easy when you do the right thing.

so tired of seeing that. im torn between jb staying for the rest of the season or getting a real head coach who can instill some kinda system so they can be ready next season.
