    Toney Douglas

Deadspin NBA (Fecal matter)List: Toney Douglas, The Little Engine That Couldn’t

    Sound familiar?

And now Toney Douglas has brought his 'talents' to Texas. How long will he last in a Rockets uniform before we give Scott Machado an opportunity? People say that Machado can't shoot or defend, but seriously he can't play any worse than Toney Douglas, can he?

His awe inspiring stat line from the first 4 games...
2/18 from the field, including 0/6 from downtown, not good for a '3 point specialist'

Whilst Douglas isn't the sole reason that we are in a funk, his play hasn't exactly helped either. Yes he played a few minutes of decent defence, but that hardly makes up for his ineptitude in every other facet of his game.

Toney is not a point guard. He is an undersized shooting guard, a spot up shooter. He has no place running an offence, and maybe it's the fault of the Rockets organisation for putting him in position to fail, maybe Toney Douglas 'Thinks he can, thinks he can', but the sad reality is maybe he just can't.

    Thoughts?

Granted he could at least hit open shots from the outside, but my god maloney was terrible.

TD is worse.. Maloney was at least shot 40% from the field in his career and even averaged 10 points a game at one time. TD cant shoot, cant score, cant pass, cant create, cant DO ANYTHING!

He is living evidence of the fact that luck will get you a long way in life. He was rotten in New York. Absolutely putrid. Morey the genius still brought this guy over here. Morey the genius still refused to cut this guy despite his horrendous performance in preseason, where Livingston looked like the solution to our backup point guard problem. Just a very bad basketball player.

Last year when I watched the Knicks and saw Toney Douglas play PG for them, I kept wondering, "Why doesn't that dumbass coach Mr Pringles try that Lin kid? Can he be any worse?" Well, not long afterward, D'Antoni was forced to play Lin. Linsanity happened. And the rest was history.

Now when I watch Toney Douglas play PG for the Rockets, I keep wondering, "Why doesn't that dumbass coach try that Machado kid? Can he be any worse?"

To be fair, Douglas can play defense. You can't say that about many bad PGs we once had.

What's worrying about Douglas is his trend of a sharp decline in FG% over the course of his entire career.

    Yr1: 46%

    Yr2: 42%

    Yr3: 32%

    Start of Yr4: 11%

This suggests a lack of confidence, which is not easily remedied. The rockets need to look for an alternative at backup PG; the stats suggest Douglas is not going to be able to produce on offense any time soon.

Lol I remember Clutchfan's optimistic idiots (the same ones who predicted a 50-win season prior to James Harden discussing how great Toney Douglas was. Having watched Knicks games with TD running the offense I wanted to shoot myself reading some of the comments.

I can't believe he's still on the roster... i figured we were gonna keep Livingston - at least his expiring contract would have potentially helped offset a deadline trade... Douglas just sucks....

as far as worse.... maybe Bryce Drew...maybe...
