Clearly anticipating the love move. Not gonna be playing pf much at all anymore, so it's wise to lose the weight. Still stronger than most sf in the league

He's wasting away without his carbs(steroids). Is Rashard Lewis one of the few to have ever been caught by the NBA?

Lebron's always ahead of the game. This is going to increase his longevity and help him to help more at the SG spot rather than at the PF spot like last season.

He was also a fraction slower than usual last season. Plus if you look around the league - Kobe, Wade, etc - he sees that he needs to take care of his knees and his body in general given the minutes he plays.

He's just changing the formula here. His overall combination of strength/speed shouldn't change. Just the proportion of each.

If you look at the most durable stars, they intentionally and gradually reduce their weight from their when they hit their 30's onwards (Nowitzki, Duncan come to mind) and this allows them to counter the slowing down with age effect and they rely on their experience to make up for the reduced strength.

This is basically the opposite of the pictures we see every summer of X player looking like he put on 25lbs of muscle only to see the guy look the exact (or nearly) same way he did at the end of the previous season once he comes into training camp.

Lebron will come into training camp and he will tell us how dropping carbs helped him lose 3.47lbs and how it has completely changed how he feels regarding quickness and leaping ability. Then, we will actually see him play and realize that, like every other player to ever play the game, he is slowly losing his athleticism due to mileage and age.

I think Ray Allen gave him the idea.. Ray was the only one in game shape during beginning of training camp last year. I'm interested to see how his game/mindset changes with the 'new' body.
